Wireth had been vaguely sullen and withdrawn once the performance started. The crowd of humans clearly left him uncomfortable. It was with a sense of relief that he found himself a place to sleep and curled up alone save for his bird companion.

Then next morning, he wanders back to the inn, trying not to make eye contact until he reaches Ameiko's place. Nairo roosts on the roof outdoors, again, and the half-orc enters. He nods his greeting to Jariah and Jakira, then takes a seat.

"I don't know about you lot, but I feel much better after having the night to rest," he says.

Elsbeth

Elsbeth strolled into the Inn. She had been up later than expected keeping Fastus awake while he was working so he wouldn't hurt himself.

"Morning everyone. Did everyone spend their hard earned coin?"

"Hey, Elli," grinned Fastus with a mix of utterly satisfied fatigue and... something else in his pale brown eyes?

[sblock=Memories][...] Never mind; doesn't MATTER." What mattered was- What was he doing again?

"Come on, you're going to bed," she stated with a sigh after a pause to see if he found it again. And she started pushing him that way -- although she wasn't going any further than the steps, of course.

But he twisted out of it: "No, no, I remember now: I'm improving my MACE! And that's GOT to be ready for tomorrow, right?"

Fastus picked up the half-finished thing, already considering shape and- He looked up at her as if he'd had a thought he'd never had before or something... And then slowly grinned: "You want to help?"[/sblock]It had been surprisingly pleasant, working together. Relaxed and maybe... tense at the same time? Kept you wide awake whatever it was, right?

And they'd done some of the best work he'd ever done on that mace! I mean, EVER...!

What was THAT about?

Jariah smiled and nodded with Wireth’s question. “Certainly. A bed is much better than sleeping on the ground.”

Some of her enjoyment faded as she considered where they might be sleeping that night. “Are we planning to spend the night out in the swamp this time as we go look into those places on the map? If so, maybe I do need to double-check my supplies for a longer excursion.”

“I still spent some of the gold we earned, but I saved too,”
she answered Elsbeth’s inquiry.

“Mostly I made sure to be better armored than yesterday.”

Jariah was wearing a chain shirt and Jakira had some leather barding. On closer inspection, the eidolon looked a little different from the day before as well. The feline looked slightly bigger by an inch or two. His fur no longer had that soft, kitten-like appearance either; it actually look thicker and coarse. Over all the eidolon looked much tougher.

The night before when Sachiko and Shalelu had come home from the retelling of their 'adventure' Suldrel had presented his gift to the elven ranger. "I figured that with the windfall it as good a time as there would be to get you an upgraded kit. I know the old one has seen a lot of good use, but it was getting kind of worn out..."

To Sachiko he says quietly as well, "If there is anything you thought you needed but did not quite have the coin for, you know I always hold back some money. We can grab it in the morning before heading out."

Suldrel's intervention was well timed indeed, for Sachiko was just about to go take care of that very thing!

She shifted her feet girlishly and gave her brother a grin. "Weeeeellll," she drawled, "there IS something..." Then in a rush Sachiko added, "Could you go to the alchemist and buy...oh fish, let me make a list!"

And then there was a blaze of activity as she ran around, finding parchment and quill, and then with great concentration started scribbling. Then she brought it over to Suldrel and handed it to him.

"So...yes. I want these things. From the alchemist. I'll give you money!"

Then, from the unspoken question in the elf's eyes, Sachiko's beaming smile wilted a little and her eyes cut to one side.

"I'm...not supposed to go in there anymore. He, uh, said he'd burn all my hair off with acid if I did. I'm pretty sure he was just mad, but... Well, I was going to hire someone to do it, but you'd be even better!"

Sachiko realized Suldrel was still staring at her, and she finally wailed defensively, "It wasn't anything I did wrong! It was an accident! Look, will you do it or not?"

On the list were some innocuous things like smokesticks and sunrods. There were also things like alchemist's fire and acid that anyone might think twice about before putting into his sister's hands.

[sblock=The List!]I am still working this out; will have it soon![/sblock]

Elsbeth

Elsbeth smiled at Fastus. She had spent most of the night with him while he slaved over the forge. It had been the first time she had ever been with a man alone who wasn't her boss. Fastus was her friend but perhaps there was something more between them? She was uncertain of her own feelings ever since Sachiko had joked about it the other day. She had tried to figure out how Fastus felt about the whole thing but her experience with relationships was extremely limited. She made a mental note to discuss the matter with Sachiko later. She felt uncomfortable talking about such things with Ameiko.

"You look a little tired Fastus."

Elsbeth slid over next to Sachiko and whispered to her friend.

"Sachiko, there is a private matter I wish to discuss with you when we have the opportunity."

"You look a little tired Fastus."
The young man in question shook himself back to the present. "Naw. Well not too much. I feel GOOD, El. Tired but SATISFIED, you know? Like- Like the world's OURS to conquer or something." He laughed at the silly thought. But still: this was going to be ANOTHER great day, he could just FEEL it!

"So what did you guys think of the show?" he inquired of the others with an anticipatory grin -- there hadn't been time last night. "Not TOO boring, right?"

Jakira stated simply, “Yeah, it was borrring. I was not in it.”

Jariah gave her eidolon a pat on the head and corrected him, “Oh, it was just fine.”

“Don’t mind him, Fastus. He fell asleep before it was finished and would not know culture unless he could eat it or it bite him in the arse.”

"Ameiko liked it," Sachiko says with finality, as if this closed the case for her.

She gives Elsbeth a surprised look then.

"Sure, that's...now's fine."

Getting up from the table, Sachiko excuses herself and Elsbeth and heads off to wherever her friend feels private enough to talk.

Wireth shifts in his seat as Fastus asks about the show. Before he has to say anything, Sachiko speaks up. Wireth nods and points to the small human.

"If the venue's happy, that's really the most important thing," he piles on.

The half-orc's brows furrow slightly as Elsbeth and Sachiko wander off. Then he shrugs, deciding this to be yet another human city affectation he's just not used to.
