D&D 5E (IC) Rise of the Dracolich

FitzTheRuke

Legend
Alhana vs Wight1

Alhana sent a ranging shot at the undead highest on the cliff, then she followed it with an arrow that plunged deep into the creature's leg. Still, as she ran for cover she watched the creature pull its own bow and send arrows at Primus as the psychic stood distracted by his psychic combat with the whale. He was struck in the shoulder, and he stumbled as the other arrow hit the ice near his feet.

Loklafd

Whale-hunting was something that Loklafd was intimately familiar with. He stood a relatively safe distance from the hole and threw javelins at the creature. Unfortunately, his technique did not work as well against a skeleton, and his javelins went harmlessly between the creature's rib-bones in a way that would have been deadly to a living whale.

Taking cover after the blow Lorenn looked down at his leg."What the hell?! Hey! My board!" Lorenn casted a spell of message, pointing his finger toward Sesto position under the water "Hang on!" and called back his board, hoping the priest had a solid grip.

OOC: Action: Casts Message
A lot of actions (from everyone) depend on it so maybe we can resolve this first?

OOC: Kalorn can't really help with Sesto, so I'll post his little duel with the wight leader - I completely agree that Sesto needs to be resolved asap.

Kalorn snarled at the wight - "You should have stayed dead".

He had the creature's measure - it didn't feel pain, but it had lost some of its self preservation instincts, and he used his swifter blade to deliver two powerful sweeping horizontal blows, trying to cleave it in twain at the midsection. His leg throbbed, filling him with unnatural strength.

2nd round attack vs wight: 1D20+3 = [11]+3 = 14
1D20+3 = [14]+3 = 17

two successful attacks on wight leader, round 2: 2D6+8+10 = [3, 4]+8+10 = 25
2D6+8+10 = [5, 4]+8+10 = 27

(OOC: total damage 52, no need for reroll this time).

note: Melee attack will inflict 15 points of cold damage to attacker if hits, as long as any Armor of Agaghy's temp HP remains (there are 3 left)

Legend
Primus vs the Skeletal Whale

Ignoring the arrow in his shoulder for now, Primus stayed in psychic battle with the echo of the mind of the whale. He found it an easy thing indeed to confuse the creature, and it began to spin in a circle in the ice-hole and thrashed about.

Kalorn vs Wightboss

Kalorn did not have good footing with his painful leg, but he was able to stay on the icy ledge with a cold breeze in his face. His sword-work was fast - far faster than the undead creature could keep up with, and he clove the thing in two at the waist. Bones collapsed down the cliff and Kalorn felt for a moment that he would go with them, then he leaned his back to the ice above and held his footing.

Alhana vs Wight1

Alhana had her target and understood her firing conditions; she sent two true arrows from her enchanted elven longbow into the undead on the cliff face, and it collapsed into a pile of bones and tattered cloth.

GM: The whale is taking the dodge action, in case you attack it. ACs are not high enough to stop these power-attacks.
Damage Taken:
(BGs) Whale 16; WightBoss 52 (Destroyed); Wight1 23 & 27 (Destroyed)
(PCs) None; (NPCs) None
[sblock=Notes]
Whale save vs Primus (Fail); It takes the dodge action
Save: 2D20.HIGH(1)-3 = [14, 2]-3 = 11

The water was cold. Icy cold! Sesto realised that he must get out of the water quickly. Strangely, he could feel that the board was still in front of him so he grabbed it. Lorenn's voice come into his mind and told him to "Hang on!". Suddenly the board flew off and Sesto could feel it leaving his hands. The damn board was too slippery.
The whale was just next to Sesto and its thrashing made it difficult to reach the surface. The whale leaped out of the water and thumped hard into Sesto, knocking the air out of his lungs. Sesto started to panic. Struggling to breath he still managed to cast the spell Water Walk. This would save him. In a moment of inspiration, he included the whale in the spell too. Let's see how easy it is to swim on top of the water!
As Sesto was floating up towards the surface, he remembered that his spectral mace was still active and he used it to whack the whale in a sweet spot.

OOC: Failed to hold on to board: Str (Athletics) to hold on to flying board: 1D20+2 = [2]+2 = 4
Failed to swim to surface: Str (Athletics) to swim to surface: 1D20+2 = [7]+2 = 9
Action: Sesto cast Water Walk on himself and the whale! (The whale is an unwilling creature, DC16)
Bonus action: Attack with spiritual mace. Spiritual Weapon attack and damage: 1D20+8 = [20]+8 = 28
1D8+5 = [5]+5 = 10
, Crit damage: 1D8 = [7] = 7 Sesto is going down fighting!

Condition: 1 level exhaustion
Spell used: 1x 2nd lvl, 1x 3rd lvl
HP: 33/59

Lorenn caught his board but sadly, without any Sesto attached to it. Suddenly, the priest emerged as if he was spitted out by the hole. "OK!TimeToKickAss!"
Still speeded up by his haste spell, the Bladedancer jumped on the board and using the ice wall as a ramp, slid toward the last undead standing on the ridge. He sliced him and continued his trajectory to avoid counter attacks.

"BreakTheIceUnderHisFeet!", he shouted to Mord, pointing toward the Giant as he flew over him.

Mord watched the happenings with a bemused look on his face. This mission was turning out to be rather different than he was used to. Still, the foes they faced were dangerous and his wounds hurt. First things first, the giant needed to be delayed. Then he'd be free to strike.

"Mordguard! Shields up and surround the giant skeleton! Distract it and defend yourselves!" (Ooc: Surround and dodge)

Commands given he again pointed his dagger in the direction of the wight he'd already injured. This time he fired off a pair of energy bolts.
