Dandin watched his friend disappear through the door in dismay. He was about to rush out of cover when he realized that two other bugbears were coming through the door. Initially panicking, he put his back to the pillar only to find one of them to each side facing off against their allies.

Realizing that his regular tactics were essentially useless in this situation, the halfling drew his rapier and stepped out to fight Andrik's foe.

His first strike was a bit clumsy at best, but he kept a ready quip at hand to distract the greenskin at the most opportune moment.

Tommi tries to hold a tight grip on the hobgoblin's blade, but he can't.
Tommi tries to say something witty, or confident, or boastful, or desperate. But he can't.

And so Tommi squirms, and tries to get away. He remembers something Lionel once told him, which was that it doesn't matter as long as it hurts. It's only once it stops hurting that you are in trouble.

Tommi felt no pain.

OOC: Attempt to escape grapple (Athletics): [roll0].

(no attack, since no sneak attack option). Will move to escape if possible safely.

Dandin, Angis, & Andrik vs Bugbear2

Dandin lunged out from behind the pillar and narrowly missed skewering the bugbear, who swung an oversized club in an arc which headed for Andrik's head. Dandin called out an insult at the brute, who turned on him in the last moment, missing both of them as he slammed his club into the pillar instead.

Kicking over a chair, Angis came from the other side of the same bugbear, but the brute elbowed him in the shoulder and the dwarf's axe went wide.

With two allies harassing the bugbear, Andrik lunged forward with his sword and managed a shallow gash on the brute's hairy thigh. The weaver was rusty with a sword, but the skill came back quickly when it was a matter of life and death.

Legend
Tommi & Enseth vs Bugbear1

Tommi knew that it was all over. His mother would never see him again and would grow old alone, with no one to look after her. His vision went dark, and his legs fell limp. The bugbear knew he would crush this little human and he smiled as he shifted his grip for one, final squeeze.

Just at the moment the bugbear's grip shifted, Tommi twisted to one side, pushing off of the wall with his legs. To his surprise, he found himself free. As his vision cleared, he saw the bugbear reaching for him again, but he rolled backward out of the way and through the door as ORB4 buzzed past him into the face of the bugbear.

From across the room, Enseth ran toward him, crushing a chair and knocking over a table. The Shield Guardian came up to him, and Tommi ducked behind the welcome wall of his protective friend.

GM: Wow. I thought he was a gonner.

Seeing that they had company coming, Titus decided he needed to keep them from joining the party. He whistles for Morwen to come back to him. He'd need his help. (if Morwen has enough movement to get to Titus and do the following. It should only be 20 ft to the window, so Titus should be able to step over and grab Morwen to bring him with him. )

He felt the cold power inside him, running through his veins. Grabbing a glass of water on the table, he upended it over himself, activating that power. A layer of frost covered his entire body, armor and gear included, though he felt none of it. It sapped the heat from the very air, and he could feel that heat burning inside him.

He ran for the window, jumping through it, shattering it and landing among the goblins outside. Four of them. This would be tough.

He funneled the heat he had absorbed into his sword, which began glowing green, and swiped at the nearest goblin, trusting his new frost armor to protect him.

OOC: Taking a gamble here, but if he survives, he can wolf out and gain some temp HP.

Action: Cast Armor of Agathys. +5 temp HP, and anyone who hits him while he has any of this temp HP takes 5 cold damage.

Movement: through the window to land among the goblins, if possible.

Action Surge: Cast Green Flame Blade and attack the nearest goblin. [roll0] or [roll1] (if Morwen can get to him and help.)
Damage: [roll2] plus 1 Fire damage to an adjacent goblin.

Legend
Averiel vs Bugbear 3

As Morwin the Tressym answered his master's call and flew toward the broken stained-glass windows, Averiel threw her bow aside and leaped from the table she was standing. She vaulted over the bugbear that was rushing toward her and drew her sword mid-air. The blade sliced down the bugbear's back as it slammed its oversized club into the table. Still, the wound was not a mortal one, and the bugbear spun quickly around and clobbered Averiel in the chest with the handle of his club, driving her back.

Titus & Morwin vs Goblins!

Titus climbed through the broken window and found himself in a shallow ditch that ran around the front side of the hill that the Tavern was under. The ditch was lousy with goblins, and he slaughtered the first one he came to. His sword was in both hands, covered with a green flame that burst as he struck with it, and it burnt the face of the hobgoblin.

Then he was surrounded and a goblin stabbed in, scraping along the ice-armour, which froze up the goblin's arm. The goblin shrieked and the next goblin shied back, afraid of the same thing happening to him. The hobgoblin stepped forward and lunged, but by then Titus was able to turn the blade aside with his own sword.

Damage Taken:
(BGs) BB3 6 (Averiel's sword); Goblin1 14 (Titus' sword); Hobgoblin 1 (Titus' flame); Goblin2 5 cold (Titus' Armor)

Titus grinned as his frost armor held up against the attack. He quickly turned his attention to the Hobgoblin. That was the more serious threat.

He spun with his blade, still in both hands, trying to take out the Hobgoblin as Morwen fluttered in his face.

OOC: Action: Green Flame Blade on Hobgoblin: [roll0] or [roll1]
Damage: [roll2] plus 1 fire on the same goblin hurt by frost.

He still has 1 temp hp from the armor, so the next creature to hit him will get the same 5 cold damage.
