D&D 5E (IC) Scourge of Daggerford

They're on the first floor, and so Tommi goes to a window to see if he can get a sense of how many goblins might be about. He doesn't want the town to burn, but it may be that it's not something he, and the Daggerfordians, will be able to stop. If he doesn't see many, he will want to suggest heading out and trying to discourage the pillaging.

His eye catches the small door. "Has anyone checked in here?" he says, as he heads over, and (if there's no lock) opens it.

"Tha's the leavin' horn." said the goblin Spogg to Dandin, who seemed to understand him. "If we don't show, the Whips'll flog us!"

Tommi looked out one of the windows. Not much could be seen, other than to confirm that the common room was ground-level - a little below ground, in fact, with a grassy ditch and empty gravel road all that could easily be seen. Tommi gave up and moved toward the door in the far wall.

Enseth entered the room behind the bar. As he had suspected, the Red Wizard had turned the Tavern's Office into his personal space. The ink on the desk was spilled, and much of his paperwork had been hastily thrust into a small fireplace, half-burnt. The wizard had left little else behind when fleeing the tavern, now hours ago.

“Keep watch over ‘em,” Angis instructed the elves before the group left the townsfolk under the elves’ care. Noting the empty, burning watchtower, he said, “Get ‘em oot if ye c’n dae it safely.”

Then he followed the others up to the Jester’s Pride. Enseth was searching what looked to be the wizard’s room, and Dandin had the captured goblin well in hand. The others were investigating the closed door.

Angis walked over to the goblin. “We’re lookin’ f’r someone,” he said. “A storyteller used ta weave ‘is tale’s ‘ere in the Jester’s Pride. Name o’ Findledan. Ye know o’ ‘im?” he asked the goblin. “‘e still ‘ere? ‘e still alive?”

"Dere's a guy dat tells stories ta prizners down atta ol'mill." shrugged the captured goblin to Angis.

Enseth and Titus gathered the half-burnt papers - they appeared to be notes on the ritual that had made the Darkenbeast, and perhaps a few letters. Using his magic detection, Titus found a potion vial that had rolled under the desk. His familiar Morwin slipped under the desk to roll the potion out.

Tommi opened the door to reveal a dark room. Suddenly, large hairy hands reached out and grabbed him about the throat. He felt his eyes bulge as he was lifted off of his feet and he couldn't take a breath. A mangy bugbear sneered at him with a look of murderous delight as it squeezed.

The air goes out of Tommi's chest and he struggles to breath in. He tastes the bugbear's breath, and so knows he is getting some air, at least. The stone in his hand drops to the ground as he struggles to retrieve Gutter from his belt. It is awkward and oversized, but he gets it out.

The blade is imbalanced, and Tommi's feet are off the ground, legs flailing, but he is close and the creature's long limbs will not avail him.

He tries to position the blade horizotally, and press it into the throat of the creature holding him. Is that an ally, one of the Daggerfordians, beside him? He hears something, but can't turn his neck to see.

He presses the blade closer. Only then does he try to speak. Tommi surprises himself, by not calling for help, but he talks to the creature holding him.

"I killed Shrogg. You're next..."

OOC: Hopefully wait until an ally is nearby (allowing sneak attack) -- can use bonus action for that if needed.
Move: Grappled, so move=0.
Attack: with Gutter. [roll0]. If a hit damage = [roll1], plus [roll2] if sneak attack applies.

"BEE-DOO BRRRZ"
"Hostiles? Where? Got it! ORB4, give me a firing solution!"
Enseth's shoulder opened and 4 sparkling projectiles flew trough the tavern, dodging every obstacles between the Construct and their target.

Titus, warned by Enseth, looks at Morwen.

“Go!”

The familiar takes to the air and heads straight for the bugbear holding Tommi, slamming into its leg, making it stumble just enough to get Tommi out of the way for Titus to send an Eldritch Blast at the thing.

OOC: Morwen flies 40 ft and uses the Help action.

Titus Eldritch Blast: [roll0]
Damage: [roll1]

Titus moves toward the Bugbear and draws his sword.
