D&D 5E (IC) Scourge of Daggerford

Dandin was only slightly perturbed by the interruption and stood to greet their host, bowing to the knight for the honor of his presence. Once seated again, he listened intently and held up his glass to join the toast. This was his first official dinner with any kind of nobility and he did his best to follow protocol as he was taught as part of his merchant's guild training. For now, that meant joining into the pleasentries and generally waiting for his turn or prompting to speak.

As this kind of protocols don't make any sense for him, Enseth observes people's reactions and imitates them with as little time lag as possible. (Held up glasses, toast, cheers, drink, eat, laugh...)

When Darfin comes in, and everyone snaps to attention, Tommi is mid-anecdote, but he rushes to a seat. It's not his own seat, and he briefly finds himself sitting next to Shalendra, but he's not even begun his introduction when the rightful owner of the seat comes, and he shifts down several places.

Then their talk was interrupted by the arrival of their host and two elves. Angis gave a respectful bow to Sir Isteval and eyed the elves. He returned to the table and lifted his glass for the toast.

“Thank’ee f’r yer ‘ospitality, m’lord,” Angis said.

Sir Darfin

The regal-looking elf stood by his chair and said, before taking his seat, "Before my good friend Sir Isteval begins, I would like to personally thank you for coming. My father, Elorfindar, would have been very happy to see a gathering such as this. In his youth, this land was ruled by the three-crowned Kingdom of Phalorm - an alliance of Elves, Dwarves, and Humans. Halflings also were valued subjects." he added, kindly (if somewhat condescendingly).

"It has long been my desire to reunite our peoples against our common enemies. A group such as this, forming naturally as it has, shows that it is possible. Perhaps, even that it is necessary."

Not wanting to hold the table up any longer than necessary, he smiled, gave a little bow, and took his seat. His sister had stood silently across from him while he spoke, silently watching his face. When he was done, she took her seat across from him and gazed into her wineglass.

"Valued subjects eh? I'll show you our worth you old stiffneck..." Dandin whispered to himself as he looked away from the elves and focussed on Sir Isteval. He was quite curious to see what this was about.

History: [roll0]

Tommi was never very good at book-subjects in school, usually because he regularly forgot hit book. And his slate, for that matter, and sometimes his mother just needed him at home (usually on days when Tommi had been up late the night before). Nevertheless, he remembered the basics of the united kingdom, and helpfully shares the basic facts that he remembers to those seated nearby. It's nothing stunning, but a few names of figures have stuck with him, and he thinks he's doing well.

Tommi

Tommi does a decent job of remembering his lessons. The human kingdom of Delimbiyran, for a time, allied with the Elves of Ardeep and the Dwarves of Dardath. Phalorm was known as the "Three-Crowned Kingdom". It all fell apart after some war with a Lich that ended in defeat for the kingdom, and the alliance broke down. Tommi seems to remember that it was the Elves that left the alliance first, but it's probably best not to mention that. Eventually, even the human kingdom fell apart. Though the the ruler of Daggerford is called the "Duke", he now has fealty to no king.

An elf whisked into the room carrying a silver tray with a roast on it and placed it in front of Sir Isteval. The halfling girls traded out glasses for fresh ones for a new wine. Isteval began to carve, saying, "I hope you'll forgive me, but I like to have things to do while I speak. I will get right to the reason I asked you here today, as I am sure you are all curious to know. As I'm sure you are all aware, you did very well in yesterday's trouble on the river. You came together in a time of need, and you did what had to be done. Not everyone has that spirit; it is a quality that I am constantly seeking. People of good character who can carry out important and sometimes perilous tasks."

He paused for a moment and passed some of his carvings down, then he continued. "What I would like to propose is this: I would like for you to agree to form an Adventuring Company. I will be offering a condition-free gift of two-hundred gold to each of you to outfit yourselves for the job. When you have come up with a name, I will purchase a charter from the Open Lord of Waterdeep on your behalf. It will all be very official."

Giving everyone a chance to think on his words, he smiled, placed a piece of roast in his mouth, stat down, and began to chew.
