Legend
"It is nothing, simply an old wound." the Devil said, trying to down-play the blade in his chest. "The Rod, if you please. And I will leave you to your Gnoll-hunting, or whatever you choose.

Vairar thinks about the teachings of his goddess, but there is little connection between air domain and deep end of the worlds. But one thing everyone knows is that fiends are bad news. As always, he advises caution.
"Lets just go. Let it be. No good can come of talking to it. We don't know enough."

Legend
"Come now," said the devil growing impatient, "You would not want to make me angry, would you? Give me the rod and I will not have to manifest my sword. We can go our separate ways and you can chase gnolls or return to your homes in peace."

Morgan arrived at the top of the stairs and made his way to the old kitchen's door. Across the courtyard he saw the fiend that had tried to turn him against his friends, towering over them and threatening them while pretending to be speaking of peace.

OOC: Anyone got any specific actions they'd like to declare?

Seeing Lionel safely behind him, Tommi takes the rod in his hand, and turns back to the devil. He holds it up so the devil can see.

"You want this so bad? Not a chance. I defy you and all that you represent, and destroy this thing, so that no one shall have it!"

The boy is fierce and speaks with the pure wrath of righteousness that his mother would sometimes use on tax collectors or mayoral candidates in Daggerford. Tommi is, of course, bluffing, and the show of strength he makes to break the rod is feigned. But he's looking at the devil to see if this is the outcome he wants, or if it's one that the devil wants to avoid. Depending on what he senses, he will either break the staff or... start to run away with it! (away from Lionel, away from his friends).

OOC: Tommi has expertise in Deception (+8) and in Insight (+10). He is looking for a tell in the Pit Fiend, and he's scared as all get-out. But he's also proficient at cards, and knows how to bluff.

Legend
The devil tried to mask it, but his eyes widened as Tommi threatened to destroy the rod. He snarled, [b}Do not be hasty, Son of Jynn! You do not know what you possess... or the full consequences of your actions."[/b]

While the realization that the fiend knew his mother's name terrified Tommi, he was now certain that there was something stopping him from simply taking it by force.

"NEVER!" the young boy yells, and he holds up the rod and tries to break it.

OOC: Is it small and delicate, like I hope? If needed he can use a foot as a fulcrum to snap it. Let's mess this thing up. Expertise in Athletics (+6) if relevant.

Legend
The rod was primarily a glass tube, bound with gold and platinum. Though this was true, it wasn't obvious by looking at it - it was dark, black with a hint of red, and caked with flaky black "dirt". But it felt delicate enough in Tommi's hands that he was pretty sure it would crack.

Fire erupted around the Devil as he became sure that Tommi would do as he intended - but it wasn't hot. Tommi lifted the rod, and brought it down toward his knee...

OOC: I'm going to give the other players a chance to chime in. I'm not sure that they could necessarily stop Tommi at this point, but they could try, if they want to. Opinions, at least, could be heard!
