D&D 5E (IC) Scourge of Daggerford

ORB3 reported back the general layout of the cellars, giving Enseth an idea of approximately where they were and any immediate threats. As it flew into the common room of the Jester's Pride, there was a sudden burst of sparks and ORB3's signal went dead.

Tommi searched the body of the chef and found a ring of three iron keys.

"Wizard spotted. I suggest we kill him to free Julkoun from this menace once and for all."

"The alternative is to go upstairs through the Warehouse and find a way out. But with so much civilians, we'll be easy targets."

Workhouse Well (Cellar 20)

Angis, who was followed by Titus, searched the room to the south in the workhouse basement. A stone well in the centre of the room held strong wooden pillars that rose through a wooden lattice before reaching the ceiling. The well was accessible from both levels of the workhouse, and on this level a series of ropes passed buckets to the water below. Shelves on the west wall contained buckets and waterskins of varying sizes. A wooden crate near the entrance contained empty glass bottles.

A dark shape moved in the shadows of the lattice-work.

OOC: Are you others going after the wizard, or hanging back?

OOC: Perception on the dark shape: [roll0]

I’d rather go after the wizard, but my choices usually get me killed. So if no one else votes, then to the wizard it is!

Angis frowned. He stared at the latticework with Titus and then pulled out a torch and lit it, lowering it into the well to let them see more clearly what might be down there.

OOC: Okay -- this has stalled, I think through indecision about chasing the wizard. It looks like we are not going after him. Let's decide that -- unless someone says differently in the next 24 hours -- and resume.

Assuming that's the case, we are wounded and have civilians to rescue. Let's focus on that.

Tommi is hurt, and while he sees Enseth's opportunity to pursue the Red Wizard at hand, he feels he hasn't got a real pursuit in him. He has tried to be encouraging, and has even pursued down the hallway, but as he coughs, he feels what may be a cracked rib, and hesitates.

The Massive blade in his hand, heavy, lopsided, with notches chpped out from hacking at bone, seems to vibrate slightly in his palm. He wipes the blade on the clothes of one of the dead goblinoids, and it's not clear it's made the blade any cleaner.

He wants to rest, but instead turns to the rescued villagers. "Does anyone need any help? I have a bit of water, if you are thirsty."

He offers a canteen.

With the immediate threat passed, the Daggerfordians had split into small groups with no clear plan forward.

Enseth was calculating the odds of his chances at success on capturing or killing the Red Wizard. He had travelled down the stairs into the cellar hallway, when Morwin the Tressym flew past. The Elves were also there, checking on the possible safety of moving a large group of people in that direction.

Dandin and Tommi were seeing to the Julkounians, with Dandin telling jokes to keep them calm and Tommi offering water. The huddled mass of locals were low-spirited, but grateful and obedient. No clear leader existed among them, and they had been badly treated for many days.

Angis and Titus were poking about a well to the south. Dropping a torch into the well to see what was moving inside, Angis startled a lurking monstrosity. The creature was a shadowy, twisted thing, with wings and teeth and it shot up out of the well, heading straight for the Dwarven Ranger.
