D&D 5E (IC) Scourge of Daggerford

Helgrim approaches, holding his head a bit awkwardly as the gnoll arrow still protrudes from his neck.

He looks over the group. "How hurt is everyone?"
"A scratch," he deadpans.

"Anyone else?" he asks, offering his cupped hand.
The ancient dwarf nods slightly as he takes one of the berries, his face screwing up as if not liking the taste. He does, however, appreciate the healing it provides.

Steeling his will, the warrior grabs the arrow with a powerful hand, and tries to yank it out.

"M'joost a driver fer th'regular caravan from Waterdeep t'Daggerford." the dwarf answered, "We'd heard gnolls was makin' trooble, but trade has t'flow, ye ken? We hired foor more guards, but it wasnae enoof. Name's Grottur. Son of Gruffuth."
"Helgrim Ironslag, from Gauntlgrim, formerly of Daggerford, friend of King Bruenor," he introduces himself somewhat formally to the other dwarf. Getting closer, the former trainer of dwarven fighters tries to see if he recognizes the fellow.

OOC: I can cast Prayer of healing. It may allow Helgrim another short rest instead of spending all HD now. Tommi and the orb would get the remainder and maybe the prisoner(s) as needed. But we need ten minutes (casting time).
OOC: Helgrim does not ask for healing, but he'll take any he can get. I think we can take 10 minutes for that prayer?

How much does the goodberry heal?

OOC: The Goodberry heals a single HP; Tommi does not see it as a source of healing, but rather of sustenance (it makes you full). If Helgrim wants the remaining 7 berries, go ahead: it would be funny for him to sharf them all.

When nobody else takes one, and Tommi keeps holding up his hand, Helgrim decides to grab all the remaining berries and hungrily devours them all.

Some of it runs out of his mouth and into his shaggy beard, mixing with the dried blood. It gives his grin a tinge of madness.

"Ye be makin' a fine drink with these an' make a fortune," he adds, laughing at his own joke.

OOC: Thanks! :)

Helgrim had not met Grottur before, but he looked familiar. An memory came back to the old dwarf of having travelled the tradeway once or twice with a gold dwarf named Gruffuth. They had been beset by goblins and Gruffuth had proved capable in a scrap. This must have been seven or eight decades ago. Helgrim was surprised that it had been so long.

"If th'way south is clear, as ye say, then I ken I can make it on me own ta Daggerford, if need be." answered Grottur with a nod, "Or if ye be needin' one t'hang back an' keep an eye oot fer trooble while ye take it too them what're in the Lodge, well, I can do that fer ye instead."

Escella didn't find much that interested her in the gnoll's tents. This was only a guard camp, after all. On the other hand, the shaman's staff was a primal focus and was likely enchanted.

Unwilling to touch the shaman's staff, Escella uses mage hand to pick up the shaman's staff. "Anyone able to tell if this is enchanted? My magics don't lie along that kind of utility. If it is we probably shouldn't leave it here."

OOC: When Escella gets a good look at the shaman, does he look familiar?

Grottur managed to salvage a few hand axes and a crossbow out of some of the gnoll's tents (it was possible that they had belonged to him in the first place, but if so, he didn't say.)

"Many thanks, mae elfish friend." he said to Vairar with genuine intent, "Thas mooch better. Now, let's go an' find soom gnolls t'kill, shall we?"

OOC: Grottur is added to the RG. Shall I move us along?
