D&D 5E (IC) Scourge of Daggerford

Tommi sliced the gnoll with gutter before slipping under the scythe and hightailing it south, with Oh-six buzzing around his head.

Escella sent two edritch bolts down the corridor before ducking back behind the corner. As she suspected he might, the gnoll spun his scythe, and it created a magical ward that blocked her bolts and left a sort of shadowy field. Vairar knew his place was at the front, and he hustled forward, along with Morgan and Titus, who stood in front of the wizard, hoping to shield him from harm.

Similar to Escella, Lionel sent a quarrel down the corridor which struck the gnoll through a swirl in the shadowy field. Then the halfling ducked back behind the protection of the bend in the hallway.

Morgan cast, and a greasy slick appeared under the gnoll, who slipped and fell to the ground. Giggling in a hoarse cackle, the gnoll crawled unnaturally across the ground before rising to his feet. He spun his scythe once more and a series of black bolts flew forth, striking Tommi, Vairar's shield, and one passed by Titus to strike Morgan.

The gnoll gestured and the two skeletal wolves burst into action. One leaped toward Variar, who held it off with his pike, and the other (scrambling through the grease-slick_ chased Tommi down the south corridor, biting at his heels.

The dwarves and Lunn took up the rear, still working their way toward the sounds of battle.

OOC: I think I got everything. Gnoll did, in fact, cast shield. AC19. Escella missed; Tommi did 21; Lionel did 17. Gnoll did 6 (Arcane Ward) & 7 (3 from Uncanny Dodge) to Tommi. Wolf chased Tommi - Tommi can run, but I think the wolf will catch him. If so, it'll bite him for 4 (& 6 necrotic if he fails a dc11 CON save). I assume they're 15 feet further south, so I put them there. Gnoll got Morgan for 7, even with Titus providing cover.

Tommi moved into a room that must have once been a storage room. Clay pots (many of them broken) sat on dusty, rotting wooden shelves. A single torch sputtered in a sconce on a pillar that held a sagging, wooden ceiling. An old oak door was in the western wall, and a darkened hallway continued south.

As Tommi moved away from the group, drawing one of the undead away, Morgan decided to focus on supporting anyone near the Gnoll1. He conjured a ghostly hand - a perfect counter for undead!2

1. I will use my reaction to cast Counterspell, if the gnoll casts a spell. If he doesn't cast a spell, I will use my reaction to absorb damage from my ally. (9 points left)

2. Chill touch on closest undead.
chil touch: 1D20+7 = [16]+7 = 23
chil touch damage: 2D8 = [2, 7] = 9
The undead now has DISADVANTAGE on attack rolls until the end of Morgan's next turn.

Grease: round 1/10

Tommi was able to draw off one of the opponents, but not more. He's disappointed in himself, but he knows he's doing his part to keep his companions safe.

The wolf's teeth snap at Tommi's calf, but he remains undeterred. With Gutter in his hand, he hacks at the wolf-thing's skull, and sends chips flying. It's still not enough to bring the foul creature down.

He considers trying to draw the skeletal beast further off, but that would be rash. Instead he works his way around the beast, cutting it off from its master. "These few seconds are all you will ever enjoy," he says to it. "Run if you dare."

Oh-Six hovers a safe distance nearby.

OOC: DC11 con save: 1d20+1=12 PASS. Tommi was at 36/39. Less 3 (gnoll) and now 4 (wolf) = 29/39 HP, EDIT: with an additional 6 off because the Arcane ward isn't there. 23/39.

Oh-Six: HELP
Attack: 1d20+6 (w/adv)=16 (hit) for 4d6+3=17 magical piercing.
Move: 10' to AI 19.
Reaction (and Bonus) not used.

Lionel pokes his head out around the corner and sees Escella blast the shaman and Dr. Morgan sending a ghostly hand at the strange wolf. He steps out and aims carefully at the shaman who is staggering from the blasts. His quarrel hits the shaman and the shaman falls over.
Lionel wants to help Tommi, so he sprints down the corridor and jumps over the fallen shaman. He stops short of Tommi and the other strange wolf, where he loads another bolt.

OOC: Insightful Fighting is still active on shaman (see post 3280).
Action: Crossbow attack, plus damage and sneak attack: 1D20+7 = [12]+7 = 19
1D8+4+3D6 = [4]+4+[3, 5, 4] = 20
Move: to AJ11
Bonus Action: Dash to AJ16

Lunn runs forward, dashing between people and blocking the path toward the group.

"RAAARGH!!"

As usual, his rage manifests physically with magic effect, in this instance a pixie appears across Vairar and behind both the wolf and the shaman. It winks at the elf before exploding in a shower of small sparks burning both enemies.

Move: 6 squares to the right and one down
Dash: move to behind and to the right of Vairar
Bonus: Rage neurotic: D8#lunnrage → 3(3)#Lunn rage
neurotic: D6#lunnforcedamage → 1(1)#Lunn force damage unless they Dex save vs DC 15
An intangible spirit, which looks like a flumph or a pixie (your choice), appears within 5 feet of one creature of your choice that you can see within 30 feet of you. At the end of the current turn, the spirit explodes, and each creature within 5 feet of it must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or take 1d6 force damage. Until your rage ends, you can use this effect again, summoning another spirit, on each of your turns as a bonus action.

Vairar twirls the pike in front of the enemies and plants its butt firmly onto the ground. From the point of impact, thunderous boom echoes all over the area as two enemies are buffetted with powerful wave of sound enhanced by the power of his goddess.

OOC: thunderwave, 16 (max of 2d8) thunder damage and pushed 10' (CON DC 14 for half damage and no push)
