[IC] SWS/DnD5, Star Wars the Old Republic – A Gathering Darkness

Thirteen translates for Kacela and replies back "They say that we are to hurry and that if we fail they will come to make war on the miners, even if they all die. 'It is better to die fighting them to be killed by the demons or guardians'"

The pair or Kwi then disappear back into the forest, running fast and almost silently through the wood...

Jihahna has an idea and yells aloud in Huttesse, [sblock=Huttesse]"Thirteen, translate quick, WAIT, what if we re-seal the mine? Would that stop them?"[/sblock]

Recon

The compact little alien buzzes and gestures them ever onward, ever faster, through the camp and up to where the mining is actually happening.

"Please be advised: fire at the storage shed south of the mining camp," he mumble-clicks into his wristcomm as they whip by the place, the smoke looking thick and streaked with yellow... Suddenly catching a shouted name from one of those being attacked in darkness she perks up: drone hum clicketty "Where is the one named Daralko?"

OOC: Trying to get a location on the fighting (is it happening now, GK?) while keeping an eye out for anything looming up before them. All on the miner's frequencies, of course.

Thirteen translate and one of the Kwi reappears and makes a number of loud hoots and quick gestures and then says "Maybe, I know not. Try if you wish. We have spoken. Stop the digging or put the mountain back to sleep. Otherwise there will be war."

Targo nods down to this Gand and swoops around the mining camp heading for the mountain trail...

GM: This Gand gets the idea that the "attack talk" is coming from the mines themselves and the miners there are all talking over each other on the comlink

Jihahna turns nods and thanks the Kwi warrior. This time standing up in the landspeeder, she cups her hands to her mouth, arches her back and tries to mimic the same coo that she saw of the Kwi in the swamp when it left before turning to her companions, raising an eyebrow in their direction. "How was that Thirteen? Roughly translate to goodbye? Any last questions or are we ready to go kick some demon ass? I assume you jedi are familiar with the term?"

The gand gestures, drone whirr click "Gratitude for this, Targo," while presenting the wristcomm.

She presses the side of it, momentarily switching back to the group's frequency: clacketty drone clicketty mumble, jumble click "Mining camp suffered minor damage but is calm." guttural whirr mumble clack "These ones are heading to the mine site?"

Checking the blaster mounted on the sidecar for ammo and safety-status, it then grips the twin handles, testing the pivot and looking for targets...

drone jumble slurr click "How did Targo become a mercenary?" inquires the female voice.

OOC: This gand has Heavy Weapon proficiency.

Kacela gives Jihanna a wry look.

"I think I can figure it out. Come on, it sounds clear enough to approach from the gand's report."

She heads for the mine site.

(OOC - Can't remember if we still have a vehicle where we are. If so, she'll use that. If not, she's hoofin it! :))

Targo drives the speederbike around the camp and heads up the trail towards the mines. He shrugs to this Gand's question, saying "Its a job and pay good. Lots of ex-soldiers need job these days".

This Gand hears more comchatter but she can't really understand much except various beings crying and screaming for help while others are trying to figure out what's going on. Within a few minutes the speederbike makes it to the mine area in a small gorge. There is a large open mining pit, about 50 meters across in the middle of the gorge with various elevator tracks leading down into the pit. There is also what appears to be a road down the side of the pit wall for heavy vehicles. Various species of beings are racing up the road, while others are packed onto the elevator lifts. Smoky smog is pouring out of the pit making it impossible to see very deep into it.

The team climbs back into the landspeeder and quickly head towards the mining camp. They quickly pass the walking mercs and head up towards the small landing area, around the mining camp and head up the mining trail...

GM: the rest of the team is about two minutes behind this Gand. If you want you can remove the light repeating blaster for the mount without much problem. You are going to need to make a Charisma (Persuasion) check to get Targo to head down the pit trail

The ponchoed alien looks over to the scaly one: drone slurr WHIRR "Targo fought the Sith?" it asks as she considers the hectic scene, then looks wider, to the edges of the gorge...

OOC: Perception check to spot anything down there anyway (blaster fire?). Then knowledge (Mining) - with advantage thanks to the "Mining Engineering in a Modern Galaxy" datacard - to see if there could be another way of getting down to the bottom of the pit (or directly into the underground portion if there is one?): ventilation shafts maybe? Pump pipes? Ore treadmill/bucket chains?

Perception: Into the abyss: 2D20.HIGH(1)+4 = [18, 9]+4 = 22
Knowledge: Garbage chute: 2D20.HIGH(1)+2 = [2, 13]+2 = 15

EDIT: Are the elevators big enough to fit the speederbike?

This Gand notes that one of the elevator lifts had already fallen down into the mining pit. She can also see that one of the lifts had stop maybe 50 meters down. The smoke and smug was blocking most view of it but she thinks it might be shaking... The one lift at this level is offloading miners, but she think the speederbike should fit into it. This Gand sees no one being attacked, no blaster fire, etc. Just a lot of screaming for help and people running about.
