[IC] SWS/DnD5, Star Wars the Old Republic – A Gathering Darkness

What the heck? Ok guys, brace yourselves for this roll. This is probably the best roll i've ever made in an rpg....

_: 6D8+2 = [6, 7, 8, 8, 7, 7]+2 = 45

Jihahna will move as far back as possible Greenkarl, towards her friends then place herself on top of this gand and kacela as a fleshy cocoon of protection....

This Gand fired blindly down the tunnel with automatic burst of energy fire and was rewarded with the cry of pain back in the smoke. Targo fired at the battle droid at the same time but missed. Kacela, hearing Jihahna cry waited a second for the mercenary to act before doing anything, while Cal fired at the battle droid but also missed. Reks, taking full cover from the droid and troopers in the chamber, called on the Force to stiffen his skin so that he would not suffer as much damage if hit in the future.

Jihahna then threw the makeshift bomb at the new Sith trooper by the tunnel entrance and was reward when the blast landed close by. He was able to somewhat get out of the way but still cried out in pain and almost fell over. Then suddenly he shook his head and seemed to ignore the pain!! The bomb also cleared out a bit of the smoke in the tunnel, back about 8 meters or so into the tunnel while the rest escaped out and up towards the chamber’s ceiling. As this happened Kacela tried to grab the troopers weapon out of his hand but the Force failed her and she instead ran forward with her lightsaber, harassing him by her proximity.

The Sith Troopers in the chamber continued to fire at Cal and Targo but all of their shots missed as the energy bolts flow back and further.

Then a pair of Sith Troopers from the tunnel raced forward and dropped prone for cover while firing at this Gand. Both shots seem unnaturally accurate and this Gand was blown off his/her feet to fall back onto the ground and unconscious!!! One more came out of the smoke and also went prone as he fired at Jihahna but missed her. Other blots of energy flew out of the smoke, and in Jihahna’s general direction. but none hit her.

The big Sith Trooper seem to shake off some of his wounds and opened fire with four shots at Kacela but being so close she foiled his attacks. Finally the Battle Droid also fired at Cal but its attacks also simple destroyed more rock formations around the medic.

GM: Initiative Order
22 - This Gand and Sith Troopers
21 - Kacela
19 - Cal
18 - Sergeant Uthall
17 - Reks
13- Battle Droids
12- Lieutenant Wessin
11 – Jihahna

[sblock=Round 4]This Gand braces and spend a FP to shot down the tunnel blind, dealing 11 and 5 damage on the second strike. As the troopers are not just lined up in the tunnel rolling randomly to see how many you hit - Random number of troopers: 1D2+2 = [2]+2 = 4; 1D2+2 = [1]+2 = 3, so I will say Trooper #10 takes the 1st hit but not the second. Still causes relling in all of them.

Targo shots at the battle droid attack (disadvantage), damage if he hits: 2D20.LOW(1)+4 = [17, 10]+4 = 14; 3D8+2 = [1, 8, 8]+2 = 19, misses.

Kacela delays her action to go after Jihahna.

Cal fires at the battle droid but misses.

Reks takes full cover from the battle droid and spends a FP to give himself Damage Resistance.

Jihahna throws the makeshift bomb and moves back, dealing 45 points of damage to Uthall and imposing the reeling condition. The Sergeant uses his Indomitable talent (as a reaction, automatically recover from Reeling. Must take a long rest to use again), to recover from Reeling. The bomb also cleared out about 8 meters of the smoke pushing some out into the chamber and the rest further down the tunnel.

Kacele then tries to use her Force Disarm but fails her roll, she then moves up to be within melee with Sergeant Uthall.

Bad Guys
The four Sith Troopers who are out in the chamber and prone divided their attacks between Targo and Cal. First two against Targo attack (disadvantage) damage if they hit: 2D20.LOW(1)+4 = [6, 19]+4 = 10; 3D8+1 = [1, 2, 8]+1 = 12
2D20.LOW(1)+4 = [15, 11]+4 = 15; 3D8+1 = [6, 4, 1]+1 = 12
, both missed. Then vs. Cal attack (disadvantage), damage if he hits: 2D20.LOW(1)+4 = [15, 20]+4 = 19; 3D8+1 = [5, 4, 7]+1 = 17
2D20.LOW(1)+4 = [3, 10]+4 = 7; 3D8+1 = [6, 6, 4]+1 = 17
, both missed

Then the two unwounded Sith troopers move (#11 and 12), one moves 12 meters and falls prone 4 meters back from the entrance to the tunnel and fires at this Gand, the second one moves 9 meters forward (7 meters back from the tunnel), fall prone and shots at this Gand - Attack and damage if it hits: 1D20+4 = [20]+4 = 24; 3D8+1 = [6, 1, 8]+1 = 16
1D20+4 = [20]+4 = 24; 3D8+1 = [8, 5, 4]+1 = 18
, both critical hits!!! Extra damage crit damage: 3D8 = [8, 5, 4] = 17
3D8 = [5, 6, 8] = 19
, so this gand suffered a 33 damage and 35 damage. That is enough to take her/him out… OW

Then the four wounded Sith Troopers try and recover from Reeling using their bonus actions Strength ability check to recover from reeling: 1D20+2 = [8]+2 = 10
1D20+2 = [4]+2 = 6
1D20+2 = [2]+2 = 4
1D20+2 = [6]+2 = 8
, only one made it (#7) the rest are still reeling. The one that recovered from reeling moves forward 4 meters out of the smoke (8 meters back from the tunnel entrance) and fires at Jihahna Attack and damage if it hits: 1D20+4 = [7]+4 = 11; 3D8+1 = [6, 8, 2]+1 = 17

The last three Sith trooper stay in the smoke and fire at Jihahna attack (disadvantage), damage if he hits: 2D20.LOW(1)+4 = [11, 16]+4 = 15; 3D8+1 = [4, 2, 2]+1 = 9
2D20.LOW(1)+4 = [15, 20]+4 = 19; 3D8+1 = [7, 5, 3]+1 = 16
2D20.LOW(1)+4 = [5, 4]+4 = 8; 3D8+1 = [1, 2, 4]+1 = 8
, all miss (I am assuming she got at least one-half cover for +2 Reflex Def)

Sergeant Uthall then uses his Bonus action to take second wind Second wind: 1D10+7 = [8]+7 = 15 bring him up to 34 hit points. He then shots at Kacela twice (double attack), at disadvantage for being in melee. He is also taking a -2 to each attack roll to use Double-Tap. If he hits, he deals +1d8 damage. attack (disadvantage), damage if he hits: 2D20.LOW(1)+5 = [2, 17]+5 = 7; 4D8+7 = [5, 7, 3, 5]+7 = 27
2D20.LOW(1)+5 = [12, 10]+5 = 15; 4D8+7 = [4, 7, 5, 4]+7 = 27
, missed both times!!

Then the battle droid fires at Cal twice with its blasters attack (disadvantage), damage if he hits: 2D20.LOW(1)+6 = [2, 10]+6 = 8; 4D8+4 = [8, 1, 1, 8]+4 = 22
2D20.LOW(1)+6 = [17, 11]+6 = 17; 4D8+4 = [6, 1, 4, 3]+4 = 18
, both miss.

Seeing the Gand blown of its feet, Cal started to worry. With a mind for escape, he stood up and flicked the selector switch on his blaster carbine to auto. Pointing toward the droid, he shouted to Targo, "Keep focusing on that, I'll try to take care of the others!" Cal aimed at the group of prone soldiers and held down the trigger, hoping for the best. After firing, he dropped down behind his rock cover in anticipation of the return fire.

OOC: Movement: 6m to stand from Prone
Bonus Action: Set firing mode to Autofire
Action: Autofire at the group of soldiers shooting at Cal/Targo - Lesser of [roll0] or [roll1], [roll2]
Free Action: Drop Prone

I think we're probably going to die with the luck we're having.

Jihahna's eyes widen at the Gands collapse. The fear that suddenly rips through her heart for her companion ignites an anger in her heart unlike anything she had felt in a long time, in her darkest, most desperate and despicable circumstances.

Her logical mindset was gone. She screamed aloud in hatred at the surrounding attackers, "GAND! NOOOOOOO!" Twisting her head towards Uthal and the troopers she continued, "OH YOU'RE DEAD! YOU'RE ALL DEAD! TARGO, HELP THE GAND AND STAY LOW! DON'T EITHER OF YOU DIE ON ME!"

With that she unleashed hell upon the closest, Sgt. Uthal. Her erratic behaviour somehow tempering her accuracy. She fired with a frightening precision despite her rage.

OOC:
To hit:
_: 1D20+7 = [5]+7 = 12

Not enough... Well then... Spending a DARK SIDE point.

_: 2D8+1 = [8, 3]+1 = 12

Equals 24 total to hit

Damage:
_: 3D8+6 = [5, 4, 4]+6 = 19

Kacela looks back over her shoulder when she hears the gand fall, and something inside her galvanizes. This has gone on long enough. It was not anger that drove her, but it was her duty to protect these with her first and foremost. These troops arrayed before her had to understand that they did not face energy bolts and bengs of flesh; limited and easily killed.

They faced the Force.

The twi'lek circled warily, her lightsaber painting them both in garish shades of green. The sergeant, clearly displeased at being braced in close combat, held his rifle up, ready to slam it into her when she made a move. But he'd misread her. She wasn't looking for an opening to slash him. She was simply playing for a moment to concentrate.

Perhaps it was the urgency, perhaps the fall of a friend, but when Kacela reached for the Force it came to her not in a trickle but a flood...a geyser that roared to her and through her. With a wave of her hand she directed that energy away from herself and into the air where it cracked like thunder and sent a rolling wave of concussion that knocked the sergeant off his feet and skidding across the cavern floor away from her.

She then quickly twisted away, back just outside the mouth of the tunnel so as not to expose herself to return fire. The battle wasn't over yet.

(spending force point on attack, and another force point do boost the effects of the power. Not sure if that's legit...if so, omit the FP on attack. Kacela CAN spend 2 FP per round due to her Force Boon though.)

Slam bang!: 1d20+10 29 1d4+1 5
Force Slam!: 6d6 20

(argh...so close to a crit!)

As this Gand fell, Targo stood and looked ready to rush back when he heard Cal’s cry. He nodded his head and while looking more than a bit worried, he moved out from cover and towards the battle droid, fired and hit it and then fell prone to get some minor cover. Cal’s burst of energy bolts at the group of Sith Troopers missed though. Reks stood and ran back to join Kacela facing the Sith Sergeant when Jihahna, growling in fear in anger, shot the trooper. Then Kacela finished him off with a powerful Force Slam that sent the troopers body flying back, broken.

The troopers in the chamber all fired at Cal, and one managed to place a bolt near the medic that caught him in the energy’s effect for a minor burn. Two of the troopers within the tunnel stood up and moved to the entrance. One caught both Kacela and Reks within a burst of autofire bolts, but both Jedi were able to avoid most of the damage. The other shot at Jihahna with a close bolt but her resistance absorbed most of it. The Battle droid moved closer to Targo and shot a dual blast at him but missed both times.

Then everyone felt a slight tremor in the ground as the whole chamber started to slightly shake. It was not too bad but seemed to be slowly building in force…

GM: Initiative Order
22 - This Gand and Sith Troopers
21 - Kacela
19 - Cal
18 - Sergeant Uthall
17 - Reks
13- Battle Droids
12- Lieutenant Wessin
11 – Jihahna

[sblock=Round 5]Targo stands for ½ move, moves 6m closer to the droid and fires at it (no longer at disadvantage from range) attack and damage if it hits: 1D20+4 = [12]+4 = 16; 3D8+2 = [1, 7, 6]+2 = 16, so close BUT you know Targo is a heroic character now so I am going to let him use a Force Point. The minimum would allow him to hit so, 16 damage to the droid (it is now 10) and then he drops prone (no cover).

Cal auto-fires at the sith troopers but missed.

Reks stands for ½ move, moves 6m closer to Kacela and the Sergeant and then Dashes to get into melee with them.

Jihahna shots at the Sergeant and hits, dealing 19 damage to him (he is now at 15).

Then Kacela slams the Sergeant with Force Slam killing him!!!

Bad Guys
The troopers in the chamber shot at Cal, all four of them. attack (disadvantage), damage if he hits: 2D20.LOW(1)+4 = [19, 20]+4 = 23; 3D8+1 = [2, 1, 6]+1 = 10
2D20.LOW(1)+4 = [14, 9]+4 = 13; 3D8+1 = [1, 1, 2]+1 = 5
2D20.LOW(1)+4 = [14, 18]+4 = 18; 3D8+1 = [7, 8, 7]+1 = 23
2D20.LOW(1)+4 = [13, 7]+4 = 11; 3D8+1 = [8, 5, 3]+1 = 17
, one hit (almost a crit!!) for 10 (5 with Uncanny Dodge). Hmm there is supposed to be five troopers in the chamber so one more attack at Cal attack (disadvantage), damage if he hits: 2D20.LOW(1)+4 = [15, 3]+4 = 7; 3D8+1 = [2, 1, 2]+1 = 6, also a miss.

The two prone troopers in the tunnel stand ½ Move, and both move to the tunnel entrance. One auto-fires at Kacela and Reks and the other takes a single shot at Jihahna. Auto-fire Attack and damage if it hits: 1D20-1 = [16]-1 = 15; 3D8 = [3, 1, 4] = 8, over ten but below Reflex so ½ damage or 4 points to Kacela and 2 to Reks (as he has Damage Reduction up). Vs. Jihahna Attack and damage if it hits: 1D20+4 = [14]+4 = 18; 3D8+1 = [6, 1, 6]+1 = 14, hit for 14 or 7 damage (because of Damage Reduction).

The other four troopers take their action to try and recover from Reeling (advantage). The one prone one stands ½ move and moves forward 3m while the others remain in the smoke. Recover from Reeling: 1D20+2 = [16]+2 = 18
1D20+2 = [15]+2 = 17
1D20+2 = [18]+2 = 20
1D20+2 = [19]+2 = 21
, all made it this time (I forgot to roll twice but oh well, they would not have needed it but that is what they did).

Battle Droid moves 16m closer and double attacks Targo, attack (disadvantage), damage if he hits: 2D20.LOW(1)+6 = [15, 2]+6 = 8; 4D8+4 = [4, 3, 5, 5]+4 = 21
2D20.LOW(1)+6 = [13, 8]+6 = 14; 4D8+4 = [1, 3, 1, 5]+4 = 14
, missed both times!!!!

[IC] SWS/DnD5, Star Wars the Old Republic – A Gathering Darkness

Cursing at his missed shots, Cal knew he probably should focus on what he did best. Clicking his communicator, he said, "Targo, see if you can take out the droid, but above all, keep your head down..." With shots raining all around him, the medic slung his blaster carbine, stood up, and ran to the Gand, sliding the last meter to avoid a flurry of blaster fire. Pulling out a trauma kit, he quickly applied the life-saving patch in an attempt to stabilize the alien. As he finished, Cal hunkered down behind the rocks, monitoring the Gand's vital signs.

OOC: Reaction: Halve damage from previous attack
Move: 6m to stand from prone, 6m to get to the Gand
Action: Wisdom (Medicine) to stabilize the Gand (DC10) - [roll0]
Free Action: Drop Prone

HP: 30/54
FP: 6/7
Blaster Carbine (w/PBS), Ranged +7, 3d8+6, Ammo: 35/50, Range: 60/600

The gand's muscles contract and then relax as the patch takes control of his autonomic functions, pumping him full of species-appropriate chems (one hopes -- the databases on gand physiognomy is sparse, the differences between the various sub-casts not that well documented). Looking her over visually, there's a large burned patch on her chest where the first bolt hit, the all-weather fabric melted and blackened over where humans have their hearts - although who knows with gands - and the delicate red marking on the right side of her head have been partially obliterated by the thermal shock of the second shot. It's not pretty.

The smell of acrid plastics and burnt sage is in Cal's nose.

Targo

With a growl the nikto merc adjusts his aim, carbine shots bouncing against the battle droid's thick armor to no visible effect: "Fall, curse you, fall!" he grumbles, nose-flaps twitching with rarely-felt annoyance: he wants to be over there right now, not here, putting holes in tin cans!

[sblock=Actions]1/2 move: Stand from prone
Action: Fire at battle droid Plinking away: 1D20+4 = [9]+4 = 13; 3D8+2 = [1, 7, 1]+2 = 11
