GM: I'm imagining you sweeping the floor much like a blind person would use their cane, only with less force wouldn't want to slap to hard and trigger a trap.

The hobgoblin steps up pole in hand and is immediately swallowed by the darkness he probes the ground infront of him in the all consuming darkness the steady rhythmic tapping as he goes is the only sign he is still alive. Hrgach makes about 20 paces when something changes his stick hits nothing, a gap in the floor, before Hrgach knows what is going on his stick is stuck, no not stuck trapped! What ever had has hold of the stick pulls hard nearly pulling the hobgoblin off his feat the tugging continues as Hrgach tries to resist.

GM: Athletics check please so 23 is the number to beat in this tug of war oh what a time to roll a Nat 20.

Ana sees Hrgach struggle against something pulling on the pole and grabs the back to help.
OOC: I assume a strength (athletics) check that will hopefully help the hobgoblin's strength check. [roll0]
Edit: Woot.

Hrgach grunted as his pole hit a hole and then something grabbed and pulled at it. He tugged, trying to maintain his grip on the pole, cursing in Goblin the whole time.

When Ana asked if he needed help, he cursed again. “Something’s got the pole!” He felt a hard tug as the human woman pulled at the rope they had tied around his waist, and he fought with the creature.

OOC: Rolling with Advantage for the help from Ana.

Hrgach just can't seem to shake whatever it is that has hold of the pole it continues to force him towards the pit. Ana's feet skid along the stone floor as what ever is pulling Hrgach moves him steadily forward.

GM: At this point your about to fall in you can attempt one more time to win the tug of war or alternatively you could drop the pole to guarantee to free your self. The Dc isn't nigh on impossible this time though.

Ana attempts to braces herself against the wall on her side of the door.

OOC: Dex check? Str? both are [roll0] athletics is +4 if it applies
But apparently the wall is coated in grease.

Hrgach growled in defiance. He renewed his grip on the pole and planted his feet. He gave a roar of effort as he yanked back on the pole.

OOC: Rolling with Advantage for the help from Ana. She doesn’t need to roll to offer Help.
