D&D 5E (2014) (IC) Vault of the Dracolich (Dispensables)

Pyrus goes to inspect the door to the right to see if it can be easily secured. He also peaks through it to see if there's anything threatening on the other side.

Bob grins at Pyrus as he grabs hold of one of thepews and hefts it over to the door on the right. "Leave this to me friend. Why not check to see if they had anything useful?"

OOC: Bob will pile pews up in front of the door on the right first, and the left second. Unless the pews are ridiculously heavy he shouldn't have too much trouble moving them.

Squirrels are evil!

OOC: Okay, then.

As Bob drags a pew over to the door, and Sesto recovers from a blow to the head (and listens to the conversation on the sending stone), Pyrus slides open the door to the right of the altar, revealing a barracks with over a dozen bunks. Six men are being helped into heavy armour by six men in robes. A man in leather armour holds the leashes of two trained wolves, who immediately begin to howl and drag him toward Pyrus.

And worst of all - the proof that the fight in the altar-room had not gone unnoticed - a young mercenary (who has been watching the door) expertly fires his crossbow before Pyrus has time to even take in the whole scene. Pyrus is thrust back from the door by the force of the bolt, but he is able to get the door closed before the wolves tear out of their handler's grip and clatter their claws at the heavy oak door.

Bob arrives soon after with a pew to brace the door.

OOC: Pyrus takes 8 damage from a crossbow bolt.
vs Pyrus Merc Crossbow: 1D20+3 = [17]+3 = 20
1D8+1 = [7]+1 = 8

Sesto is a little woozy in the head but he tries to understand what he hears from inside his pocket. He pulls out the sending stone and relays to Bobranthus and Pyrus what Omani is saying. Then he says back: Sesto here. We took the teleport and ended up in a temple of sorts. We had a bit of a struggle with some worshippers that wasn't pleased to see us. They knocked me unconscious but it looks like Bob and Pyrus cleared the place.
Oh, my head hurts!
We are missing Devan. He never came through the teleporter. He might have had an argument with the Lizardmen... We will wait here for a while and maybe he will turn up.

Sesto puts the sending stone aside and touches his bleeding temple. Lathander's goodness flows through his finger and the wound closes. Sesto lets Lathander's healing powers touch the wounds of Bob and Pyrus too. Then he accepts the potion that Bob is offering him. That feels good, Sesto thinks as he down the potion.

Bob is pulling pews to one of the doors and Pyrus is walking to the other and it looks as he is going to open it! No! Don't, he shouts but too late, Pyrus opens the door and immediately get a cross bolt in his chest. Sesto clambers to his feet and picks up his weapon and shield, ready for a fight.

To the sending stone he shouts: We are attacked again. We need help!

OOC: Sesto uses Channel Divinity: Preserve Life to heal himself to half HP max (12 HP). Pyrus can take 5 HP (up to 22/43 HP) and Bob can take the remaining 8 HP (up to 27/54).
Healing potion: 2D4+2 = [3, 1]+2 = 6
HP: 25/38

OOC: Recalculating Bob's HP 25 dmg taken at end of the last fight means 15 HP. Add in new HD from levelling (14) and 8 from Sesto heals, current HP stands at 37/55.

Bob braces the door and looks to his friends. "Well friends, do we bash heads or wait for them to break the door down?"

Squirrels are evil!

Pyrus, how many did you see? Sesto asks as he pulls Pyrus up on his feet.
And to Bobranthus he says We could go back the way we came... through the obelisk. Hopefully we get back to where we came from. Sesto is not sounding convincing, not even to himself.

Sesto is relieved, Help is on its way. Omani is teleporting over some of the other team to help us here.
Sesto helps Bob blocking the door. Let's keep them out as long as possible. Sesto thinks out load. When the others join us we can wedge the door ajar slightly so that only one at the time can enter this room. That way we can pick them off one by one.
Sesto pauses and pushes one of the pews a little closer to the door. What do you think, Big Man?
