Location: Underground Lake, 1 hour 35 minutes to Nightfall

Encounter: The Decapus

Round One

Kurzon runs down the shore, sliding in the mud as he comes to a stop and hurtles a javelin into the water at the dark shape writhing about there. It goes deep and true, and strikes a tentacle.

As Auraia dives overboard, Udit paddles to the shore, jumps out, drops his paddle on the beach, and draws his swords.

Auraia swims down to join her sister as the Decapus lashes out tentacles at both of them grabbing them in a crushing grip.

Aquaria strikes with her psychic energy and the creature seems to anger - changing colours from brown to red, and thrashing her about under the water.

On shore, Drako surrounds himself in shadowy armour.

GM: Aquaria and Auraia are both Grappled and Restrained. The Decapus has Half Cover, and is both Underwater and in Obscurement (Disadvantage and no Long Range Ranged Weapon Attacks allowed)
The shore is not Difficult Terrain per se, but if you move too far you need to roll Dex Saves or fall. I'm going to let Kurzon get away with it this time, because he already fell in once.
Udit didn't have an action left (I think rowing 30 feet, getting out - without the kayak floating away, presumably you dragged it up the beach a little - and drawing two weapons is probably enough)

Kurzon and Udit should go, then I will do the Decapus. Then everyone else.

Kurzon swiftly draws another javelin, "Tyr bless my aim!" he calls and his spear sinks into the creature. The divinely blessed attack causing extra damage.

[sblock=actions]

Move Action: draw javlelin
Bonus Action: Hunters Mark (tyrs blessing)
Attacks hits AC 22/23 in OOC thread

Damage = [roll0]

OOC: lol double 1 for damage :P

Udit cursed viciously as he jabbed his two swords to the ground, Slasher and Stabber planting themselves in the sediments and staying upright, and drew his bow. There were many ways to win a fight, one of them was to divide the enemy. Well, we had just did that ourselves he thought

"Beetle, uh, guide this arrow, okay?" he muttered as he drew the arrow, aimed, and let it fly.

short bot attack vs water monster at disadvantage, cover: 1D20+5-2 = [1]+5-2 = 4
1D20+5-2 = [14]+5-2 = 17

Undit cursed again as the arrow didn't even penetrate the water and simply bounced as a skipping stone would.

The Decapus

The Decapus squeezes its new-found lunch, but it doesn't like the ringing in it's head. And something keeps poking it. Hoping the ringing and poking will go away, it rolls it's tentacles around it's prey and slides back under it's rock, taking them with it.

GM: Please escape (DC 16 - I know, not easy). The Decapus is now 30 feet underwater and under total cover (relative to the shore, not to the genasi sisters, though it's still in an obscuring sediment cloud. And they are restrained, so they have a ton of disadvantages). So at the moment, there is no way to attack it from shore, although you can still make out the genasi sisters (Edit: well, Kurzon can. They are in darkness - does this suck enough, yet?), so if anyone Kurzon has any ranged buffs (but I don't think you do) they might still help. @tglassy and @eayres33 can go whenever you get the chance. (Not sure what Darko can do, sorry! Edit: Aside from mage-hand the torch over there to give the genasi sisters some light!)

Decapus vs Aquaria and Auraia, repspectively
_: 2D20.HIGH(1)+5 = [11, 6]+5 = 16
2D20.HIGH(1)+5 = [4, 3]+5 = 9

Looks like they hold up to the squeezing and take no damage.

First, when the creature attacked Auraia the first time, it reached out for her, and grabbed nothing but water! She teleported ten feet to the side, dodging the attack!

OOC: She used Defensive Step as a reaction when the thing attacked her the first time. You kept going before I had a chance to respond. Defensive Step: When you are hit by an attack, you can use your reaction to gain a +4 bonus to AC against that attack, possibly turning it into a miss. You then teleport up to 10 feet to an unoccupied space you can see.

So, Auraia has not been hit yet, and is not currently grappled, since the second attack missed anyway.

Aquaria has had enough of this.

She looks at the thing, able to at least see its tentacle easily enough. Her eyes flash blue as she launches a psionic assault on the creature's ego.

OOC: Action: Ego Whip. Creature makes a DC 10 Intelligence Save or takes [roll0] psychic damage, and can only take the Hide, Disengage or Dash actions on its next round. (I really should have given her more intelligence). If it succeeds on the save, it takes half damage.

Auraia isn't going to just sit here, either. She slices at the tentacle holding Auraia, attempting to cut through it, using her second blade to parry any other tentacles that may come after her.

OOC: Action: Attack: [roll1]
Damage: [roll2]

Bonus Action: Parry with PSI Blades, grants +2 AC until my next turn. Current AC is 19. If hit again, she is going to use her reaction to use Defensive Step again, which increases her AC to 23.

Udit cursed bitterly as the tentacled monster dived deeper, and looked at Kurzon and Drako.

"It's up to them now..."

OOC: Mystics are tricksy!

Drako stands helplessly next to his two companions on the shore, wishing he go do more. In a low voice Drako starts to talk, “Well we could go in after them.”

“Not that I think that’s necessarily a good idea.” Drako continued as he used his magic to hover a torch over the surface where the creature had submerged.

"We will see after this throw, this is my second last spear. Need to make it count!" Kurzon growled as with a grunt he hurled the javelin at the decapus.
