D&D 5E (IC) Vault of the Dracolich (River Gang)

OOC: Sorry guys I've been asleep for the past eight hours. Something about humans and the biological need to shut your brain down for a little bit?

Aquaria decides to take a closer look at the metal glinting in the water. She swims down to see what it is.

Auraia is starting to feel a little claustrophobic. She thought she had a handle on this, but every now and then, especially when she's deep underground are in caverns, it starts to cramp up. She clenches her torch, her blue knuckles beginning to turn the white. She's more than happy to let the others take the lead at the moment.

OOC: Sleep! That doesn't excuse the day before those 8 hours where you didn't post! (I am just teasing you.)

GM: Aquaria has disadvantage on the perception from dim light, which is the best she can do with only a nearby torch through water. A lantern would be better. I rolled _: 1D20+4 = [7]+4 = 11
for her.

Aquaria gets Udit to row closer to the spot and her sister to hold the torch closer to the water as she dives to see what lies beneath. In the flickering torchlight, she sees it again - the glint of steel. Diving down about 20 feet she sees it closer:

A sword, held in the hand of a body, skeletal, but still held together by tattered leather armour and sinew still on the bone. It's lying on a large rock at the bottom with it's feet dangling over the side, the true bottom of the lake shrouded in darkness still.

She takes the sword, careful to disturb the body as little as possible. She also looks around to see if there is anything else in the area worth looking at.

OOC: Perception: [roll0] or [roll1]

Drako pulls the kayak part of the way out of the water and secures it as he walks around the little bank waiting for Kurzon to return.

Drako watches as the other kayak paddles away appearing to find something interesting. “Do you guys need us for anything? Should we come out?”

The body was more precarious than she thought. As she pulls the sword free, it slides off the rock, falling deeper into the water and out of the flickering light. As it does, it raises a thick cloud of disturbed sediment. Thick enough that Aquaria does not see the tentacle until it is nearly too late. Just in time she spots it - a large brown tentacle creeping out from the bottom of the lake - it reaches for her as she swims away - and the faster she swims, the faster it chases her. Suddenly bursting through the sediment cloud, there are nine more tentacles.

GM: Roll initiative, everyone. Though some of you may not even be able to see it, at the moment, Udit and Auraia can see some dark shadow moving down there, and can just see Aquaria (20 feet deep) swimming defensively. I assume they warn the rest of you. As you roll initiative, let me know your intentions, whatever they are. It's not easy to do much about it at the moment, it's true. Drako had been inspecting the strange stone that Blackpeak is made from, from the inside. Kurzon can see almost the whole map with his darkvision, but the bright light of the torches glow opaque white, and he can't see through the surface of the water. With ten tentacles, we will call this the Decapus.

Udit noted the nutshel and the tunnel with interest. The fact that this tunnel was maintained meant it was used by the resident of the black peak... and that there was access from here to "upstairs". Which was good. The nut shells... was this a "disposal system". Well let's not take a swim shall we?

Udit opened his mouth to comment but suddenly sensed a shift in the water.

Initiative check with the tentacle monster in the water: 1D20+3 = [12]+3 = 15

He suddenly burst into action, shouting "water monster!!!" as he paddled strongly towards the bank (near Draco) - he had *no* intention of fighting that thing in its element. As soon as the kayak is beached (if he has time to reach it of course) he jumped out and drew his swords.

His right-handed blade is a rapier... of a sort. Although the battered scabbard is of full length, the blade is barely longer than 2 feet long - the blade has broken and the tip reforged, resulting in a short and stiff stabbing blade.

In his left, drawn from the small of his back, is a bone-handled (stained with sweat) exceedingly large butcher's knife - a small sword really.

GM: I should roll for the Decapus. (Obviously it's attempt to grab Aquia was surprise) [roll0] Anyone who beats that can take a full turn (if they can think of something to do!)

OOC: Looks like Udit is still madly paddling when it takes its turn... Lets see how Kurzon and Drako do. Edit: Or not, looks like Aquaria's psychic warning gives him time to get to shore.

OOC: Also, all allies within 30 feet of Aquaria get initiative +2.

"Something's wrong," Auraia says, feeling her sister's sudden fear.

Aquaria speeds to the surface, moving ten feet north and 20 feet up. She breaks the surface long enough to shout "Giant squid!" before diving back to the water, spinning and looking at the creature. Once she sees it, she cycles her mind through routines and disciplines to increase her psionic potency, and then sends a psionic blast to the thing.

OOC: Movement: Swim to the surface at K11.

Bonus Action: Switch psionic focus to Psychic Assault, granting a +2 bonus to psychic damage.

Action: 3 psi points to activate Psionic Blast. Does [roll0] damage. No save or attack roll. Basically the psionic version of Magic Missiles.

Once Auraia hears this, she stands on the boat, and says "Get to the shore!".

She holds her hands out, and two blue, psionic blades appear from her fists. She focuses her power into the blades, increasing their potency, before taking a deep breath and diving into the water.

OOC: Bonus Action: Summon Soul Knives, spending 2 psi points to make them +1 weapons.
Movement: Dive into the water, and go as deep as possible (difficult terrain? 15 feet? She has no swim speed, but doesn't that just make it an athletics check? If so [roll1], [roll2] if acrobatics. Also, Auraia can hold her breath indefinitely.

If she can get close enough to hit, Attack: [roll3] Damage: [roll4]
