[IH] Bekath's Progeny

"Hey, I'm Serryn" Serryn says in greating to the youngster. "Looks good, Danil grab me one? he says to Danil as he heads towards the drinks.

“Sure thing. You know, it isn’t often I get to sample something like this,” he says as he lifts up the bottle. “At least,” he pauses a second while considering the bottle, “it looks nice.” He pours two glasses and walks over to Serryn, handing him one. “Here’s to trying new things.” He sips a bit, still standing, and stares into the glass.

Serryn toasts his glass with Danil, standing to receive it. "Thanks." he says simply. He sips from the glass as he returns to his seat. "Good stuff."

Just as you are getting settled, the door opens again, giving you a look at a large man wearing a full plate armor so gilded and engraved with beautiful patterns to equal any noblemans best attire. From what memories and tales you've got of your father, you can only surmise that this must be him.

Stopping just inside the door and closing the door behind him, Bekath looks you over and remarks to himself, "Yes, you will do well," before striding on to the larger chair and sitting down. "Be seated," he orders.

When you all sit in front of him he takes a deep breath and starts explaining why you are here. "I am Bekath, father to each of you, and newly apointed councilman of Silahin. I have called you here to aid me in my duties to keep the city safe. You have inherited some of my power, making you fit for some tasks that would require many times your number of guardsmen to perform. Now, there are many such tasks that needs doing, and we do not have many guardsmen to spare, so I have much for you to do. Perform well and I will make sure that your are richly rewarded."

He waits a moment for the words to sink in before finishing, "Do you have any questions so far?"

Danar straightens even further and glares into Bekath's eyes. "Yes, " he says bluntly. "How do you plan to take care of my mother while I'm doing this service for you?"

"What needs doing?" Serryn says. He stares for a few moments trying to get a sense of his "father's" intentions. He sizes the man up, knowing full well that he is one of the First.

Finally turning around from staring out the window to confront her father , "After all these years of ignoring me/us, why should we agree to help your pitiful request? I can only assume you never wanted to see us again but now when you need help you came crawling back to us for help. Quite frankly why should we help the likes of you, what make you think your problems are a concern to us?"

With that said Liliana will continue to stare at Bekath until he answers her.

Bekath looks back at Danar, seeming a bit amused and somewhat proud that he would stand up to him. He looks him in the eyes for a few seconds before saying dismissingly, "she will have what she needs."

About to answer Serryn, he gets interupted by Liliana's angry confrontation. He stares back at her and answers with some heat of his own, "and what have I done to you, left you alone? You've taken care of yourself, have you not? I'm offering you power, wealth and a place by my side, and you scorn it because I haven't done so before? I have given much to get to this position, and I'm handing you a place not far below me if you only live up to your potential. This is truly your big chance in life, and I suggest you take it."

He abruptly breaks eye contact with Liliana and looks back at Serryn and then at all of you, accounting for what he needs done, "there is a gray village just a few days march from this city, they've been a real nuisance for some time now, attacking trade caravans and villages. Recently, they made a mistake in attacking a caravan too strong for them. Their entire raiding party was wiped out, so there shouldn't be many of them left. I'll need you to get to the village and take out what's left of them in there before they can gather in strength enough to bother us again."

When done talking, Bekath sits back and looks you over, daring you to make any further objections.

“That’s it? Go fight some grays?” Danil looks up from his glass at Bekath and sighs. He looks over at Liliana, gestures toward Bekath slightly, then looks back at him. “You don’t expect us to believe that there aren’t many who would gladly have done this living in Silahin right now. Your test is as transparent as your disregard for our desires.” He puts his hand on the back of one of the chairs. “What is the point?”

Jek

Jek is quietly enjoying himself, watching his siblings argue with his full-of-himself father, their father as well he had to remind himself quickly. He reached for another wine, quite a good vintage he thought as he sipped, slowly digesting all he heard in the room.

"So, how much of an advance are you giving us?" Jek says as he casually leans upon the desk "You will pick up all expenses yes?"
