Invasion of Mori - IC [3.5][CE/NE][planar]

Pyre looked back at the Posse, and their apparent need to "plan ahead". He turned around and then said while scratching at his long black beard, "The man said they were Kobolds, they won't be much of a threat to us. Hell, if nothing else I can just make the bloody things implode. And I'm sure the rest of you are no slouches when it comes to combat. Are the rest of you scared to face these things? And the matter of the Avatar hould be of no concern for us at the moment, we are not threatening him or his followers at all, if nothing else the fact that we are bringing the strength of the abyss here should appease him." He could sense that some of these people were as ready to go as he was, and would imagine they would be impatient as well.

Still rubbing the rabbit fur along his bow, Hanaav responds to Pyre's push for action.

"Just another few moments and I'll be more than ready for those kobold dogs."

Loriel resumes a human seeming as she gets to her feet.

"I will scout from the Ethereal plane," she announces simply. "And report their positions telepathically as I find them. If I find any particularly juicy targets, I'll take them...otherwise they're all yours."

She smiles at the bard. "Not that talking is a bad idea. It just takes longer than I think we should spare for a band of vermin. If we need to stage an attack on the town, I'm sure other, surer antagonists can be recruited."

Assuming there's no objections, Loriel is briefly shrouded in unnatural silvery fog...then she's gone.

(moving at 25' per round ethreally towards the sound of the explosion.)

Closing his eyes for a moment, the wizard begins casting spells, waving his robed arms in intricate patterns and muttering words in lost tongues. The first spell Arxas bestows upon himself creates a burst of purplish light as he completes it, and his skin and flesh appear to become thick and rough. A second cantrip brings a slight, colorless glow to the mage's eyes.

OOC: casting false life (1d10+10 temporary HP) and detect magic.

Rose, who until this time has sitting at the table shaking his head, quickly stands and follows the maug. "About time," he hisses under his breath. As he passes by Pyre, he exchanges a look that might be meant as a sort of 'what can you do.'

As the party makes its preparations to confront the intruders, a second explosion can be heard. Screams and shouts accompany it.

Roillard stares up the hallway. "They are actually getting closer," he says with a distinct note of surprise in his voice.

"Well, I'm ready when the rest of are. Shall we be on our way then?"

As the group heads out to meet the kobolds, Hanaav takes the opportunity to utter a few less-lengthy incantations.

Careful to avoid any lingering tentacles, Loriel fades back onto the Material plane and concentrates on her companions. A moment later, her voice resonates in their minds.

One floor above where we were, but they seem to be moving fast. These miserable cultists aren't putting up much of a fight. At least one of these kobolds knows the Black Tentacles spell, so be warned.

She pauses to listen to any responses, then vanishes back onto the ethereal to hunt down the second explosion...hopefully before the kobolds had had time to vanish again.
