Depends on what you mean by "this".

There are many publishers doing small PDFs for d20 Modern, most of them of the "here's one class" variety.

I'm more interested in things like the 22 Talent Trees. Making new classes sort of misses the point of the flexibility of D20 Modern, IMO.

Well if the only thing that meets your criteria for d20 Modern support is new talent trees (small product or not) then yes, there is not a lot of it.

I often wonder if I could get sales on something like my old two-pagers....

Of course some of those two-pagers are over 2000 words so looser layout and a few pieces of clipart would put them up to 4 pages + OGL.

I didn't say that was the only thing I was interested in... just an example.

Well... I think you don't see a lot of talent trees (small product or otherwise) because they only apply to the basic classes in the rules as written.

Since most players don't spend a lot of time in the basic classes, the talent trees as written are plenty for them.

So that's why you see a lot of advanced classes- especially since there's like 12 in the core rules. A lot of people want more variety than that.

This is my interpretation on why you see a lot of classes and not a lot of talent trees.

Heck, I use talen trees for MOST of the advanced classes I make. It allows some serious customization for a class.

For example, the paladin AC has two trees with 3 talents each. The trees are smite and heal. The class gets 3 talents over it's ten levels, along with the basic class abilities.

Result, the player can choose to be either the fist of wrath, or the hand of kindness, or a combination of the two.

Talents are too good a feature to limit to the basic classes.

and the idea that people would pay 2 dollars for 8 pages was... surprising.

You are below the threshold where many people feel like they are not really spending money.

They spend an amount of money that seems to have no impact on their day to day economy, but they still get a quick aquisition fix out of it.

I'd bet there are people who bought your product and rather than than thinking they "spent" $2, were patting themselves on the back because they did not spend $10.

I'm TRYING my hand at 5-10 page PDFs, and I just can't quite master it.

The first attempt is now up on RPGNow - ENArsenal - Spiked Chain - which weighed in at 20 pages all told.

The second attempt is goign through proofreading right now and will be up in about a week - Secrets of Theurgy - and I managed to cut it down to 15 pages.

So, I figure with a bunch more practice, I might be able to master this 5-10 page trick.

:)

(Off I go to practice some more)
