D&D 5E Ironfang Invasion (IC)

Aubrin nodded at Loosh and Vin, “I’ve still got a few tricks up my sleeves if the search party heads this way, you would be the ones I am more worried about, being out in the open.”

“You are right it is a risk, but it’s a risk we are going to have to take if we are going to find help. I think its worth it. Perhaps Vin can have his pet scout to make sure they are far enough away.” Aubrin said with a shrug.

“As for the Rangers camp it should be about two days march North by North West.”

Vin whispers several commands to Fluffy and launches the magical construct into the air, once again he sits quickly before the vertigo of riding the owls senses takes over.

OOC: Fluffy to fly in expanding circle till it spots goblins and observes them for 30min before flying east for an hour.

Harb Half-Elf Paladin

As usual Harb is up in time to pray while watching the sun rise through the trees.

He listens to the conversation with Aubrin quietly, waiting his turn to speak.
"I think we should go. We might also be able to talk these rangers into helping us protect these people."

Harb looks to Aubrin. His voice changes slightly, much the way it did during the attack, more stern and business like.
"While we are gone please talk with the townspeople and find some skill sets we are going to need. Fletcher's mostly, but also trappers. We should also talk to the old town smith about spears and shields. We can start training people to help defend themselves as soon as we get back. If bows and arrows can be fashioned the hunters could even start teaching them to shoot those. The same snares a trapper uses to catch game will tie up a hobgoblin and make an ambush easier. The training will also help with moral."

"I will go as well. If we are fast enough, we can move the camp before the goblins get there. If we are lucky, their scouts are more concerned about counter-attacks or spies than looking for us per se, a few refugees may not be their priority... but we shouldn't stay here any longer than we have to.

We'll need a bit of food for the journey, of course" adds Lal

Flint is torn.

"Well, I'd go with ye, but then who's going to make sure our esteemed guest here doesn't run and betray us all?"

The dwarf nods towards the prisoner he has decided to guard, and then looks at the others, hoping they will come up with a solution.

"Sure, if he's willing to do it with his fists," Corsa says. "No weapons for him. But I think he ought to stay here, and if they have any sense, they'll tie him to a tree. He's Aubrin's problem now." Her disgust at Aubrin's decision is plain on her face.

Harb Half-Elf Paladin

"I think he should be watched but treated fairly until he proves he can't be trusted. Trust but verify as it were. He should stay here and help, Aubrin should be able to find a way for a wood carver to earn their keep... If he runs, kill him." The last part said with a resigned sigh.
