D&D 5E Ironfang Invasion (IC)

"Those troglodytes, they wouldn't happen to be beekeepers, would they?" Flint asks suspiciously. Although there is no visible magic around him, those around the dwarf suddenly smell a faint but disgusting scent, reminiscent of dead lizards and sweet honey.

OOC: Prestidigitation; create a smell like troglodyte stink mixed with honey. ;)

“Sorry to be the bearer of bad news about the caves, but I think a fully prepared and ready force should be able to drive them off.” Renalt forced a smile, “once you scared off a troglodyte, they rarely return.”

Renalt’s smile became genuine and he let out a slight laugh at the dwarf’s question, “Nope, definitely not beekeepers, I find it hard to believe they could keep any type of animal alive for long.”

Turning to Vin he nodded his head, “I don’t know the exact number, it is quite a massive cave complex when you combine it with the ruins, but I’d say somewhere being ten and twenty, but they are fairly spaced out inside. At least if they follow the normal troglodyte pattern.”

"well that doesn't sound that bad," Vin smiled. "Well, should we go back to the others and present them the option? We might need to make a stretcher for Renalt here though. Or do we take the troglodytes and get Aubrin and the others to come? Fluffy can take a message to her."

"Renalt is in no shape to be tagging along on a raid. We should bring him back to Aubrin, or to a ranger outpost. Perhaps on the way we can think of a way that we can use these Troglodytes to our advantage."

"It is a pleasure to meet you Renalt. I wish it were on a brighter day. From the looks of you I could use some of the powers Sarenrae blesses me with to help your wounds. But from the look of you it's likely you need time to rest as much as anything."

Lal smiled - they had done it, they had rescued this man. Then the smile faded... So much things were not right...

"Well met Renalt, I am very pleased that we managed to rescue you. But we have much to do - check the hamlet for survivors and supplies - and much to discuss "

"Do you know about the hobbed goblins legion invasion and their magical tower? Are you part of this ranger group we have heard about? Can they help refugees? Also... I am sorry to say but an undead being attacked two rangers and killed them..."

“I am a Chernasardo Ranger, I was stationed with two others at our remote outpost around a half day walk from here. I suspect those were the two that were killed.” Renalt said with a sadden expression.

“They were to go to our one of our deep forest camps and inform them of this invasion, I was to come here to Gristledown and warn the townsfolk. We had just marched from Ecru, it had been overrun by the Ironfang Legion.” Renalt shook his head, “We saw nothing of a magical tower, have they struck somewhere else?”

"The Legion took Phaendar not long ago. They overran Ecru as well? This is terrible news." Loosh sighs.

OOC: Were there any buildings left unburnt in Gristledown? We should stay the night. It's probable that they won't return right away to a town they already destroyed.
