Is Star Wars d20 revised worth it?

I had a lot of issues with the first edition, and yes, I admit that I still prefer the old West End system... that said, I'm playing in a game under the d20 rules right now and the GM is talking about changing over to the new set... is it worth it for me to get the new book?

I'm greatly enjoying my copy. $40 buys you a lot of new goodies. I'm very thankful to have some better rules for Starship and Vehicle combat, and I'm glad that all Jedi can now deflect blasters without using a feat.

What I DON'T like is that they took a lot of Episode I information out of the book- like Darth Maul's stats. They also have stats for PCs that involve prestige classes not covered in the prestige class section. The new character sheets are also big messes of lines. Not easy to read at all. Not big problems, but they're there.

Don't hurt me, but if you can't afford or don't want to spend $40, there are places on line that have 20% discount. As a last resort, you can use Amazon for a 30%. That is how I plan on buying it. I work to hard for $40 and to buy a book I just want to read and may never play more than a few hours of is not going to be $40.

I passed on the first d20 version and haven't gotten a look at the new one yet, so:

There was a thread a while back asking if SW classes were as powerful as D&D classes and the general answer was "no". With this new version, I read in that review that all the classes got beefed up. Are they on par with their D&D counterparts now?

Kinda the same question, but would the Force serve as a good, balanced system for D&D psionics now? (In the previous edition, I read posts saying it would be a bit weak for D&D)

Are all the supplements like "Starships of the Galaxy" going to have to be redone now?

If so, that pretty much makes this a new edition, doesn't it? What is it called in shorthand? SW 3e? SW d20 2e? RSW d20?

It's hard to compare the SW & D&D classes, but yes... They all got beefed up, and more importantly, they are all more flexible classes.

As far as I've seen, the Sourcebooks are only minorly affected by the new rules... Where it will be most felt is with regards to the Maximum Speed of starships (you have to figure out the starship's movement rate), and classed characters in Adventures (since their stats and special abilities might change).

Creatures are essentially the same.

Equipment is essentially the same.

All the old Feats and Skills are still there (though the errata has been fixed, and new ones added).

As far as I know the Starship Combat rules in the new rulebook are designed with the Stats for ships in Starships of the Galaxy in mind. I don't know this for certain.

just ordered it on amazon.com, something i usually don't do. however, seeing as it is a re-release of a book that just came out a year ago, i think it was justified. i saved about $10 on it, and for once i'm not ashamed in going to a big clearing house for an rpg product.

i am looking forward to it, though.

Yep... Stat-wise, the only differences are:

A ship's movement rate is a number in addition to the "cruising/attack/ramming" label. The movement number, so far, is the same as the "Space" speed rating from the old WEG version.

Ion cannons deal a sort of "subdual" damage, that shorts out the ship's systems and leaves the ship unable to take an action. The amount of damage determines the DC to repair the ionization damage.
