Is SVGames an honest business? Was I the only one stolen?

I ordered a bunch of Chainmail minis as well, and recieved them after a long wait.
From what I've gathered that was due to the fact that SVGames were supposed to recieve surplus stock from all the various Wizards stores, which did not go as smoothly as on could have wished.
I was a bit irritatated at the time, but now I'm a fairly satisified customer, and might order from them again. They might not be my first choice, though.

Not all web companies are bad

I recently ordered some things from FRP Games online and got them quickly. I've also had good luck with other web sites. I've never used the site you have the problem with, and have to admit, unless there is something I can ONLY get through them, after reading this, I won't use them. But don't give up on all online gaming companies again.

I would contact the company via phone one more time. 877-635-3212 is the number listed on the site. I don't know how many employees they have but I'd guess not many. So if you get a machine, don't leave a message. Just call back until you get someone.

Make sure they know you are serious and tell them you are going to contact your credit card company to reverse the charges and the better business bureau to report them unless they are willing to send you a new order overnight or at least put a tracer on the package they already sent.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Well, you do have some options.

First, I'd recommend getting a phone number, & calling instead of using email or postal mail. It's a lot harder to ignore a phone call, and at least then you'll talk to someone.

Next, there is a good part here: if you ordered something on a credit card & never recieved the merchandise, call your credit card company, relate your story to them, and ask them to reverse the charges. I'm not sure the exact language to use, but you can legally dispute the charge to your card, since the charge was payment for goods not recieved. The CC company will advise you on how to dispute the charge & what's involved, and then they will attempt to contact the game store and get the details. Working with your Credit Card company is a good way to either get your money back, or get your product from the pressue the CC folks will put on the store.

Good luck.

I agree 100% with this statement. I used to work for a major Credit Card company in the USA and this is exactly the proceedure I would advise you taking to get your money back. The Credit card company will dispute the charge for you, credit back your account and then take on board the headache of getting the company to pay them back etc...and the best part is that it can mostly be done over the phone. If you want a well established and reliable company online to deal with then Games Workshop online store is excellent and does guarenteed deliveries within 5 working days and sooner if you are prepared to pay extra. I have never had any problem with them in getting my mini's and I have used them for nearly 4 years now. Hope this helps you decide what to do. Cheers !!!:)

Charge back

Just to let you know: in the United States calling does not protect your fair credit rights (charge backs, etc). You must go through a written request to issue a refund. Of course in Canada YMMV.

Other than that, good luck friend, and don't be soured on Internet vendors.

I tried to download something for $4 off the SVGames website. After several successive attempts during which their connection crashed (mine didn't), the file finally made it through.

When the file finally did make it, it was in some bizarre format that my computer couldn't read (it said it was .pdf but Adobe didn't recognize it).

The website didn't offer any explanation of how to read the file.

I tried to call them on a Friday afternoon (their time) but nobody answered the phone.

I left several messages over the course of the next week to see if somebody there could give me explanation.

Nobody returned my calls. The problem I had may have been my own fault somehow, but they were not willing to help me solve it. They don't care about communicating, which means they don't care about their customers.

In short, I lost my $4 but learned a *very* inexpensive lesson:

never, ever, ever use SVGames.

I have never used SV Games before. With this knowledge, combined with the fact that there are plenty of other reliable on-line sources, I never will.

Many of the ESDs they sale are chopped up into parts; when you pay for one, the download link is to part 1. The rest of the parts are downloadable for free (and linked on the individual product's page).

Once you have all the files, you run a program (WinSplit for PCs, Chuckjoiner22 for Macs, both available on their website) and it combines the multiple files into one titanic PDF file. There are instructions here.

It sounds like you got part one of the ESD. If you still have it, you might check its page for other downloads.

FWIW, I've ordered a few things from SVGames and never had any problems.

Yuk. Sounds like things have really fallen apart since you left, Baraendur. I'll definitely be taking these customer horror stories to heart and avoid them like the plague. I don't care how nice people are, if they take your money and don't call you back that's just really crappy business.

I hope you get everything sorted out Gith Galath!

I know I will not buy anything from the Internet again, and the attitude of SVGames (as far as I'm concerned anyway) is definitely not beneficial for the rpg e-industry.

I do a lot of business on-line. Don't let one bad experience throw you off.

As far as the rest goes, definitely call up your credit card company. I've had to do this a couple of times (ironically, for in-person transactions, not Internet purchases), and they are your allies. You don't need to give them a sell job or anything. Just tell them that you're a bit unsure of what needs to happen, but you made an on-line purchase and never received your stuff. They'll walk you through it.
