Is'Merith - Campaign Thread

[sblock=Trogdor]Hmmm, I notice the term "Full round action". Are you by chance new to 5e and have come straight from either 3.5 or Pathfinder? If so, as the others have said, in this addition there's no such thing really as a full round action now. Instead, you have your Action, Bonus action, Move Action, Reaction and your free actions. You can draw one weapon as PART of an attack action, use your free action to draw the second weapon, use your move action to get into melee, then as I mentioned before, use your attack action, then bonus action to attack twice, then if a goblin tries to run away without using their action to "disengage", you get to use a reaction for an attack of opportunity.

Also keep in mind if you want to get the dual wielder feat, I'm a very Rules As Written DM, so I'm happy to allow you to use a shield as your improvised second weapon, thereby granting AC bonus and a 1d4+Strength mod bludgeoning attack at -2 to hit for being improvised. Keep that in mind for yourself TGG. I can find plenty of ways to kill my players without worrying about their AC too much (though my aim is never to kill, just to create an exciting story where you THINK I'm going to kill you, though I'll kill you if that's the way the dice roll). I don't mind if you want to use RAW stretches in the rules. I may use them against you all sometimes.

Sorry, I just completely went off topic :). Never mind.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC] doesn't multiattacking require a full attack action?
[/sblock]

[sblock="OOC"]There's no "full action" or any other kind, there's just an Action. And a Bonus Action, if you can take one. Two-weapon Fighting let's you take the second attack as a Bonus Action. Movement is unrelated to these. Your Action lets you take one attack right now, Bonus Action for a second attack if weapons are Light and blah blah. At lvl5 you get Extra Attack, then you can take 2 attacks per action, plus a 3rd if you're dual wielding. Fighters get even more, too. Action Surge lets you take an extra Action, meaning 1 more attack for you right now, but you still only get the 1 bonus attack for your dual-wielding Bonus Action. At lvl5 you can make 2 attacks with your Action, 2 again with Action Surge if you want, and 1 with the Bonus Action. Again, Movement is unrelated, you can move however you want or not at all while doing the above.

Btw, might be better to have chat like this in the OOC thread.[/sblock]

As the goblins and their strange barking calls began to get more frequent, Mina tried to keep track of the sounds- it was a language, of sorts, but utterly alien to her. After a few moments, as the calls continued, she gave a soft barking cough of her own- trying to match the sound as best she could; while she couldn't communicate, she might be able to mimic the calls well enough to confuse the creatures.

Any planning along those lines, however, was quickly put aside as a flood of goblins appeared. Mina raised her bow smoothly enough and looked around, trying to take stock of the situation.

[sblock= Initiative, etc.] Init 1d20+3= 22; roll http://www.coyotecode.net/roll/lookup.php?rollid=103353 . If she can get so that her back is to a wall, or so that she is close enough to some of our fighter types to get cover, she will try a short bow attack at a goblin with a clear line of sight. If she cannot get enough cover/support (that is, if there is a goblin in melee range so her bow would be at Disadvantage, she will use Vicious Mockery- in this case an imitation of the goblins' calls laced with a subtle bardic twist to cause confusion and distraction. [sblock=Initiative]
Mina - 22
Al - 22
Daedarai - 17
Gobbos - 14 - http://roll.coyotecode.net/lookup.php?rollid=103434
Shen - 13
Isaac - 3
[/sblock]
Shen jumps in with Ambuscade and tries to get a shot off, but misses as the arrow is loosed too early and ricochet's off a wall, missing Daedarai's head by only an inch.

Mina's calm and composure seems to assist her in leaping into action. She steps up between Isaac and the wall and raises her bow, letting loose an arrow, striking the nearest sand goblin and dropping it. Another of the goblins looks to its left and barks a high pitched chirp, followed by a single bark.

Alejandro runs towards the goblin that just cried out. "You're mine!" He growls in anger, opening its skull with his staff, its green glowing blood sloshing out onto the floor. Another Goblin from behind, still blocking the parties path chirps again once in a high pitch, again, followed by a single bark.

Daedarai had not been noticed by these silly goblins as he had been hidden from them already. When he slinks further into the darkness, he is presented with several opportunities. He chooses to try and clear the path, towards Shen, but on the other end towards Her. He holds his shot for the 4 goblins about to surround her.

The goblins near Shen surround her, barking like mad. An arrow strikes one in the back of the neck (9 damage from Daedarai), and it slumps to the ground. One of the others bark the same again, the 3 surrounding Shen strike at her with their spades for hands. Rather than striking with each individually, each of them arches back and strikes with the plates interconnected as a singular natural weapon, almost like a praying mantis with its arms bound (http://roll.coyotecode.net/lookup.php?rollid=103437). Fortunately for Shen, only one hits. It wounds her quite brutally however, tearing a long wound, that runs down from the left side of her waist to about halfway down her thigh (10 damage (http://roll.coyotecode.net/lookup.php?rollid=103439)). Blood sprays out onto the other goblins, who begin feeding on the red liquid, the one that successfully struck Shen is licking its hands and giggling maniacally.

The remaining 4 goblins surrounding the party make their attacks. 2 on Al and 2 on Isaac. Al gets hit by one of the two http://roll.coyotecode.net/lookup.php?rollid=103441. It strikes him with a hit that would kill a lesser warrior, the blades sinking into the side of his neck, blood sprays upward as the goblin lets out a bark of joy at striking what it thought was a mortal blow, followed by about 3 unusual barks of... What... Confusion? [sblock=OOC]http://roll.coyotecode.net/lookup.php?rollid=103442 (13 damage! Becomes 6! Shrug it off Al! Shrug it off!)[/sblock]

Isaac gets hit by one of these nasty critters too http://roll.coyotecode.net/lookup.php?rollid=103440.
He takes quite a vicious wound himself, a big slash down the side of his face, then his chest, then his lower calf. [sblock=OOC]http://roll.coyotecode.net/lookup.php?rollid=103443. (10 damage! Come on mate, you can handle these things! [/sblock]Once again, this goblin starts with a bark of satisfaction, followed by several smaller barks of irritation as it notes Isaac has not yet fallen.

"Not good", Shen stammers as she grits her teeth. [sblock=OOC] Seeing as you would have missed anyway with your melee, I'm giving you your action back so you can disengage. I believe in an RL situation, you would have anyway in this situation[/sblock]. Shen disengages, backing the hell away from these nasty little bastards, hiding, she bolts around a side tunnel and makes her way back around to the side. She can just see Al about 15ft away and will need to move up soon to get back into combat. It does not appear that the goblins were able to follow her.

Pissed off at his fresh wounds, Isaac spins his blades down towards these nasty creatures, decapitating one of them, but missing the next.

The half elf tries to do his bit too, picking up a rock about as heavy as a sledgehammer, he throws it from 5ft away from a goblin, but misses and moves back. http://roll.coyotecode.net/lookup.php?rollid=103444

What do you all do?

Daedarai's eyes go wide at the gush of blood from Alejandro's neck. Masrir's words from the day before rang briefly in his head. If anyone dies, their blood is on his hands. Shoving the thought aside, he notched another arrow and aimed at a goblin by Alejandro and let fly.

[SBLOCK=Rolls]Attack w/ Shortbow Round Two: 1D20+5 = [18]+5 = 23
Damage roll (second round): 1D6+3+1D6 = [6]+3+[2] = 11
Cunning action hide (stealth) roll (round two): 1D20+7 = [5]+7 = 12 [/SBLOCK]

[SBLOCK=Plans] Same plan as before. Attack for sneak attack (one of the goblins in melee with Alejandro) and then try to hide. I'm shifting from Shen's attackers since she vanished from my sight and Alejandro's hit would have been in my line of sight whereas I'm picturing Isaac as being behind me. I also remembered after making those rolls that the attack should have been with advantage from hiding. I think 23 is going to be fine so I'm not going to be concerned about it, but the 12 roll this round may not be high enough for a successful hide next round. Let me know if it works for advantage (if we survive to the next round)[/SBLOCK]

[sblock="OOC"]'Cause the blood is gonna spray, spray, spray, spray, spray
And the plan is gonna fail, fail, fail, fail, fail
Baby I'm just gonna fade, fade, fade, fade, fade
Al, shrug it off! Shrug it off![/sblock]

[sblock="Not OOC"]OUCH[/sblock]
