Is'Merith - Campaign Thread

[sblock="OOC"]Can I re-ask exactly where we are and where we need to get? And are there any useful features nearby? Dunes...mining equipment, anything like that? Making a break for it is my first instinct but I don't know what we can feasibly break for.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC - Important] Remember guys, I gave you each inspiration, so if you wanted to re-roll your perception to give you the ability to act this surprise round, that's cool. Or you can save it. It's up to you.[/sblock]

"Move!" Shen shouts to Tro'leera, shoving him in Daedarai's direction, a bit rougher than she probably needs to. She shoves her bow back over her shoulder and yanks her halberd out, pointing it at each goblin in turn as she whips around, trying to be sure none of them reaches their charge without her noticing.
[sblock="OOC"]I'll put this up to keep things moving, but I could still use a quick once-over of the surroundings. Also, am I correct in thinking we are penned in on all sides my goblins appearing from the sand?

If he doesn't look like he's going to get moving, I'd like to grab him and drag his ass with me, going in whatever direction Daedarai is going and shoving past/leaping over goblins or whatever as necessary, unless that involves 20 OAs. But I don't know if it would be legit to know whether he'll move before his turn. If that doesn't work or isn't necessary, I'll stick behind him (or move ahead of him, technically, because turn order), readying an action to attack the first thing that targets him.

Sigh...if only I were a level 11 PHB ranger, with polearm master and horde breaker and whirlwind...oh well, missed opportunities.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC - Maciv]On your eastern side is the pathway that lead you to the mines in the first place. Running along the northern side of this path is the rather sizeable open mine/pit full of sand goblins. To the west, the path continues off towards the prison. The cave entrance you entered is a sizeable rock formation that just out of the desert sand. The sand goblins close to the party are emerging within fairly close proximity to each other, the precision of the ambush seemed to hinge on the party standing where they did and being attacked in the surprise round. Running is possible, so long as no members of the party get dragged down beneath the surface! Other than the cave and the mine, there appears to be no other feature of tactical significance around.[/sblock]

[sblock="OOC"]Alright, my course of action sounds fine then.

Are we all agreed that running into the tunnels is NOT a good plan? I feel like our best bet is running across the surface in the direction of the city? It shouldn't be hard to navigate to.[/sblock]

Daedarai moves first with almost unnatural speed, dancing over the sinking sand funnels, he moves back and twists about before calling to Tro'Leera. Shen follows swiftly, going to grab Tro'Leera, before she sees him respond to Daedarais call. He may be fighting an illness, but he's not completely incapable. He doesn't seem particularly bothered by the goblins either, momentarily pausing in his muttering to look down at the funnels with a glare and a snarl. "Filthy savage beasts" he mutters. Now he, Shen and Daedarai have moved up as the others step back momentarily a little surprised by the sudden rise of claws about them. Shen pulls around and readies her action, preparing to fire at the next goblin she sees around her friends. One attempts to grab for Alejandro, without success, the little gnome evading its clutches [sblock=OOC]_: 1D20+4 = [5]+4 = 9

Another 2 of the creatures rise from the sand attempting to drag down Isaac, One grabs hold and the other grips a claw painfully around his right leg, then starts thrashing into the sand with its other claw, submerging itself.... She fires, striking and killing the goblin, the other, which grips Isaac growls in her direction.

Another pair of claws rise up to drag Mina down and takes hold, however, it appears the creature needs a partner to assist it in the burial process...[sblock=OOC]_: 1D20+4 = [15]+4 = 19

It barks angrily at another 2 sand goblins that emerge from the sand, one which has run straight towards Alejandro to attack him, the other, which looks to the chase... Enemies who appear to be running away must be fun to chase....[sblock=OOC - Attacking Al]_: 1D20+2 = [3]+2 = 5

In missing the gnome with its claws, any remaining gleam of happiness leaves Alejandro's eyes; his eyes turn black with anger that cannot be confined merely within his little body, it MUST be released. His muscles tense and expand, veins pulsating up his neck as his teeth grit and he begins to scream. "NOW IT'S MY TURN!"

The other goblin however ignored this as he ran straight towards the three "Runners", attacking the slowest of which was Tro'Leera, who, with a surprising amount of agility, suddenly turns to face his foe, the claws missing him only by impact, the sharp blades creating a small cut on his face as he JUST dodges out of the way. [/sblock] "Nooo, not tonight!" He yells out. "They swore it would not happen! They promised me it would not be tonight!" He takes the javelin and swings back at the goblin, clipping it over the side of the head, it takes a step back momentarily and growls at him in response... Tro'Leera in turn, growls back with quite formidable anger, causing the goblin to pause just for a moment and cock its head...[sblock=OOC]url=http://roll.coyotecode.net/lookup.php?rollid=104370]_: 1D20+2 = [11]+2 = 13

With all of that said and done, the other dozen goblins down in the open mine creep forward a little further, time is running short for everyone...

[sblock=OOC]ROUND 2= Everyone can act now![/sblock]

Alejandro is a gnome. His racial memory tugs at him, telling him that the outside world, away from the city, is where he should be.

So far, his first trip outside has provided no trees, a bunch of ugly goblin mutants, tunnels, a lot of pain, and sand in his socks.

He, raging, swings at the goblin who swung at him.

stupid, grinning, toothy head.

He roars as he then runs as fast as possible after his colleagues, on the look out for any gobboes he can swing his whirling morning star at, polo style, as he passes them.
