D&D 5E It doesn't look like the revised ranger will be in XGtE

That was my impression about a month ago when Crawford or Mearls, cannot remember which, commented that when they do release it, they hope to do it in a way that will not make people have to pay for it.

Oh come on WotC. In just a week, the last revision to the ranger will have been out for a year and nothing has been done with it. That's ample time for playtesting, looking at feedback, and retesting. That's significantly more time than the final content of the PHB received (the final public playtest document was released in late September and the book was released in early August, and there was additional private playtesting).

It's almost as frustrating as the absence of updates for the artificer and mystic, which have been on the Guild for three months now.

If you're going to update and do something, then do it. Otherwise, just call it "finished".

Perhaps if they just had a bigger team...

I actually like the pace that they're going with this stuff. People talk about a "sweet spot" in the game (usually levels 5-10), but I think there's also a sweet spot to an edition, and it's the time (now) before all the bloat becomes overwhelming. It's like a honeymoon. The longer they can stretch it out, the better.
