John Williams booted from next Harry Potter

Jarvis Cocker an "unknown"? I love Pulp! I don't know how this is going to work exactly, but hey, John Williams and/or Danny Elfman don't have to do every geek movie.

And actually, I thought his score on Azkaban was much better than the first two films, which were awful IMHO. They weren't evocative the way a good score should be, they were punctuation.

Doesn't sound like he was 'booted' to me...just that they decided to go with someone else. I'm not a Harry Potter fan in any way, but I loved the soundtracks, and I'll agree with Tarrasque Wrangler that Azkaban's score was better than the other two.

It'll sound like this...
(to the tune of Pulp's 'Mile End')

He didn't have no where to live, / he slept behind the cupboard door,
'til Hagrid said / "I know this place on a Scottish moor."
It was on the fifteenth floor, / fat woman’s portrait ‘cross the door.
You had to give the password / to calm her down and get inside. / It smelt as if someone had died;
Scabber’s corpse was full of flies, / the bathroom sink was blocked,
Myrtle’s not all there at all. / Ooh, / it's a mess alright, / yes it's
Hog - Warts.

And now he's living in the sky! / He never thought he'd live so
high, / just like Heaven / (if it didn't look like Hell.)
The stairs are always quite a howl, / the dining table smells of Owl
(not just on Friday, / every single other day.)
Beware, Malfoy comes out tonight, / with Crabbe and Goyle to have a fight,
and maybe hex somebody if you win the duel.
Ooh, / it's a mess alright, / yes it's
Hog - Warts.

Oo-ooh / Nobody wants to be Herm's friend
'cause she's a mudblood tart, / ooh / as if that was
something to look smug about. / That outcast giant with his dogs
raises dragons in the bogs. / Down by the Quidditch fields,
someone sets old Snape on fire. I guess you have to go right down
before you understand just how, / how low,
how low a potions teacher can go. / Ooh, / it's a mess alright, / yes it's
Hog - Warts.
Lalala...

Well I was going to do 'This is Hardcore' but.... ;)

Indiana Jones 4?
Secret Life of Walter Mitty? (Thurber fan alert...)
War of the Worlds?

Was I taking a nap or something?

The Auld Grump, who thought that Williams' soundtracks on Star Wars Episodes 1 &2 were the only good things about them...

Are you unfamiliar with IMDb?

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0002354/

Using that site regularly, I rarely miss news about the big films (and those three are fairly high profile), though news about a smaller film sometimes eludes me.

I absolutely loathed the first two soundtracks. Too intrusive. A mouse could have taken a fart on that movie and there'd be a huge "DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN........DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!!!!" horn section barrage. I love third one as a more subtle, more atmospheric sound track rather than one that tried to cram a sense of "wonder" down my throat.

And I love Pulp/Jarvis Cocker!

That's f****** brilliant!

[and it has me wondering the new Harry Potter soundtrack will be based entirely on the Trainspotting soundtrack.... "Here comes Harry Yen again...with liquor and drugs, and a....flesh machine...He's gonna do a witch-tease"].

OK, that'd just be weird...

Ep1, yes. Ep2...eh. Aside from the end bits, it was so-so.

I didn't even notice the soundtrack in PoA, except for the Boggart Bit (tm), and that was on-screen...
