Ken Burns' Prohibition

Anybody else watch this?

I've missed one hour of the second episode, but I know they'll play it again and again. And probably again.

I liked the parts about Remus and the other unknown (to me) names of the day. I was thinking it might provide some interesting background info for the volunteer work I do at my local museum, cataloging old documents from the Prohibition/Flapper era.

I was able to watch bits and pieces, enough to know I'll check out the DVD's when my local library gets them.

If you're interested in the subject, I highly recommend Last Call by Daniel Okrent. A very good history of not just Prohibition, but the personalities and politics that led to it being passed in the first place and its eventual repeal. Much like what I saw of the series, the book makes clear that the story of Prohibition is a lot more than just Chicago gangsters and speakeasies.
