Kulan: Knightfall's Crisis in Bluffside Game [OOC]

I had my right arm and shoulder worked on today at physio, as well as the right side of my upper back. Very sore. There won't be much writing for me tonight. I'm trying to decide if I'm going to crash for a while. Probably.

We should have some money, cash, in 'group vault' for these kind of things. So whatever we get that is cash or can easily be turned into it, we should keep as group funds until we indentify everything. Then we buy healing wands and other 'shareable' items, only then we split the loot including the remainder of the money.

Reading earlier decision, this is fairly relaxed in this group - for example, humanbane dagger was worth a lot more than other items, but that can be compensated later. In total, the group is giving away a lot in 'this is for the guards' parts. They're not selling masterwork items for example, just giving them away (at least that was my understanding, I admit, I focused more on the events than loot splitting, but I think that was the agreement.

This time, there are more of us (active PCs) and also the loot is explicitely split with the guards so maybe just to claim identified items?
@Knightfall do items for Spritewing must be crafted specifically or he can wear a bracelet on his leg or a ring over hoof and it will resize to fit the size?

I know armor won't resize, it is barding for the mounts :)

Regarding Beast Heart Adept:
  • there is no mention of the replacement mechanics - it's not like I can just pop off to wilderness and capture dungeonbred pegasus (or even normal blink dog)
  • monsters offered on the list are fixed, would you consider 'opportunity companions' - if it happens that we meet a monster that fits the size/general HD and somehow we capture it or Rockhorn does some monster diplomacy - could we adapt that instead of buying/finding monsters from the list?

So, I've decided that your PCs can have as much as 24 hours of downtime, if you want. Just remember that for every hour in Bluffside, a day passes for Phelix and his minions in the planar enclave.

Also, I'm assuming it is okay to allocate 1,000 gp of the captured coins to pay for 10 pearls worth 100 gp each for the casting of identify. The question becomes, is one of the PCs casting the spell or is the group hiring a wizard to cast it for them. Regardless, the PCs have to pay for the pearls.

It costs caster level x 10 gp to get a wizard to cast a 1st-level spell. Either the wizard would have to have enough higher level slots to cast all the identify spells at once or the PCs will have to hire more than one wizard. You can assume that the PCs can find two 4th-level wizards who are willing to use their daily spell slots to cast the identify spells. Oakfirst will be able to find you someone willing to help.

So that would be 80 gp total paid to 2 NPC hireling wizards. 40 gp each.

If you want to roleplay the hiring, we can, but we don't have to if you just want to have it done.

I've updated all the magic items as being identified. As well, here is the full treasure list with both market values and sell values. Each item has a condition that either makes it more or less valuable. I'm still trying to figure out how many of the potions were used during the candle shop battle.

@Neurotic's research checks...
Rigantona (religion), gates (planes), well (??) -> local

The fey goddess known as Rigantona is better known in Bluffside as Rhiannon. She is often called the Faerie Queen by her followers, which are almost always fey creatures or female druids and rangers. While Rigantona is not considered one of the High Fey (aka the Seelie), she is an important fey goddess of the Mystic Glades (aka the Plane of Faerie). [In game terms, she is a true neutral, intermediate Goddess of Nature. Her clerics can be of any neutral alignment.]

Her realm is called The Queen's Court and she often hosts the High Fey during their constant wandering of the Mystic Glades. While the Low Fey (the unseelie) aren't banned from her realm, they rarely visit her realm. Relations between Rigantona and Titania are cordial. Neutral fey deities tend to follow Rigantona's lead when it comes to the politicking of the Fey Ones. This is especially true of the Rhode, the Fey Goddess of Waves and Wives, and Saint Hurbert, a demigod known as The Hunter and The White Stag.

While Rigantona isn't as powerful as Titania, she is greatly respected by mortals for her more neutral stance when it comes to balancing between nature and civilization. Long ago, before Bluffside was Bluffside, her faith dominated much of the coastline in the region. There are lost shrines to her in the forests and mountains surrounding the Valley of Sem La Vah. Worship of Titania is stronger in the Coldwind Forest and the wilder Aarzan Valley. (The elves of Ravensilath honour both goddesses.) Basically, the two goddesses are like friendly rivals.

Knowledge (the planes) -> 18 + 14 = 32
More than likely, The Faerie Queen brought Sobla and Mutt to the Shadowstar Sea instead of the Mystic Glades because it was easier for her to do so. Also, the Mystic Glades aren't meant for non-fey. As an intermediate goddess, it would have been easy for Rigantona to bring them through Her portal, the well.

As noted below, Akos could not find any information on the well in the Teacher's Library. It is almost as if someone has removed any details about the well's existence in Jade Thicket from the temple's library. During his research, Akos discovers a huge 'hole' in the information regarding planar gates or magical travel to and from Bluffside. There are pages torn out of books and several major references are just... gone.

It is obviously the work of Phelix or one of his agents. The head archivist, Pennant Hassenforth, becomes livid when Akos brings the thefts to his attention. He had security in the temple heightened after the first time the Loyalists broke in and stole books (*), and he is completely distraught to learn that they are still getting in and out without setting off the magical alarms or being seen by the library's archivists (or other staff).

He begs for Akos's help to find out how they are getting in and out. Or, to help him strengthen the magical alarms and wards protecting the temple.

* This happened before the original PCs found out Phelix was a villain. It was when he went by Felix Yoxall and was working, secretly, at The Winsome Heart in New City. He was exposed, tried to burn down the inn, and his allies caused the New City Disaster (a huge explosion). Because of what happened in New City, the original thefts were 'put on the backburner', so to speak, by the first group of PCs, but not by the head archivist himself.

I can aid or roll. I have all those skills. Although, except for religion, they aren’t very high. Would an assist cause any of those fails to succeed?

It wouldn't make any real difference. A +2 to make a 6 and 8 is still not good enough to help. If he'd rolled a 28 on the Knowledge (religion) check, then a +2 would give more in-game insights into the goddess.

We did that for Mutt with at least one item, I think, so, yes, if an item could logically fit on Spritewing, then he could use it.

I'm not sure about the idea of a bracelet on his hoof. But, you could have a magic ring converted into a magic earring. You'd need to find a wizard who has the skills of a jeweller and the Forge Ring feat. There would be a cost to "rework" the ring. Maybe half the Market price of the ring to make sure the enchantment isn't lost as the wizard re-forges it.

Any sort of magical amulet could be worn around Spritewing's neck without any sort of modification.

@Tellerian Hawke had the same sort of comment/question regarding whether or not magical armour resizes. Armour definitely doesn't. Neither do shields nor weapons.

Also, anything that absolutely requires a torso can't be used by Spritewing. That's why I'm not keen on the idea of magical bracelets/bracers being used by the pegasus. That seems to munchkin to me. Like with a ring to an earring, if an item could be modified without substantially changing the item, then it is probably okay. Maybe a magical bracelet won't work on Spritewing's hooves, but I could see a single magical bracelet as useable as a tail adornment.
