Kulan: Knightfall's Crisis in Bluffside Game [OOC]

@Aust Thale and I have been discussing an optional rule for converting gold into XP...

If a character is close to leveling up, he/she can choose to spend gold 3:1 to earn the XP needed to reach the next level. To use this new option, the PC must be within 5,000 XP of the next level. Also, you can only earn additional XP this way up to a max of 25,000 XP.

Thoughts?
25k total in his career? Or per level? We could describe it as paid training, and it would require some downtime. But this is fantasy...so in the dungeon, you might sacrifice itesm/gold to a god, spirits of the world or just as a focus for your inner self?

Item distribution: @Aust Thale if you want to sell the items, they are worth a lot and are yours to use how you see fit. You can buy a replacement. Maybe they would be good items to trade for some good will in non-opposed thieves guild or with Dark Lanters? And with @Knightfall approval, you could ask for a better trade (lets say 70% of value) since it would be item of item direct trade instead of item->money->item?

I mean, humanbane is a great boon in the story where lots of enemies are human(oid)s.

In other news, Akos level up is almost complete, I'm still deciding between Fey Legacy and Mortalbane feats :(

We did that for Mutt with at least one item, I think, so, yes, if an item could logically fit on Spritewing, then he could use it.

I'm not sure about the idea of a bracelet on his hoof. But, you could have a magic ring converted into a magic earring. You'd need to find a wizard who has the skills of a jeweller and the Forge Ring feat. There would be a cost to "rework" the ring. Maybe half the Market price of the ring to make sure the enchantment isn't lost as the wizard re-forges it.

Any sort of magical amulet could be worn around Spritewing's neck without any sort of modification.

@Tellerian Hawke had the same sort of comment/question regarding whether or not magical armour resizes. Armour definitely doesn't. Neither do shields nor weapons.

Also, anything that absolutely requires a torso can't be used by Spritewing. That's why I'm not keen on the idea of magical bracelets/bracers being used by the pegasus. That seems to munchkin to me. Like with a ring to an earring, if an item could be modified without substantially changing the item, then it is probably okay. Maybe a magical bracelet won't work on Spritewing's hooves, but I could see a single magical bracelet as useable as a tail adornment.

Technically, hooves are single finger nail - a ring should be better than a bracelet :p (a joke, I don't really think this should work, it would at the very least fall off regularly)
Lower leg should be able to hold "boot" item such as anklet
Neck obviously works as neck :)
Barding works for horses and is well defined
Natural weapons can be enchanted

Everything else is up to you, I'll pay what's needed for items to work. I.e. Cloak of resistance (if we have extras) could be adapted for wing tassels or something.

Second companion
For extra monsters: no, I don't plan on replacing Spritewing, he is a friend. But adventurer friends are killable so...yeah, I may not be able to raise him (Akos?). Extra companions comes at the next level.

Monocle
I'm fine with paying extra 500 for the monocle, it means only little extra and we can identify stuff 'on the fly' and outside of the city (and we will not run out of black pearls in the city :) )

Loot question
Last time there was a discussion and finally some table (referenced above) before everything was assigned. Do we do that again? I posted earlier already that I'm interested in the poison and blowpipe with darts. These are minor things. I will check the final list tomorrow and make list of preferences. What happens if more than one character asks for the same thing?

Okay. Thanks for the clarification. 👍

I try not to influence who gets what, but this time there are NPCs to consider. You guys should post what each of you wants from the loot and discuss it. Trading of items is fine. That's been done before. Dicing for items is also fine, but that should only be a last resort if you guys can't decide.

The NPC guards will likely want at least one magical item. The +1 rings and cloaks come to mind for them. Maena was already given the enchantress's amulet of natural armour +2 (worth 8,000 gp) by the Sectarian Captain. Ela also gave one of the rings of protection +2 (worth 8,000 gp) to Zenpher. Ela is also taking the enchantress's spellbook for herself and the Wizard Council (worth 10,890 gp due to its excellent condition).

Maena and Zenpher are unlikely to want to give up the items given to them, but the PCs can try to convince them to take other items with Diplomacy checks. They had to bring those items to the Palace to have the PCs identify the items, regardless.

Remaining Value of Half Shares
Ela de la Camoys: 1,135 gp, 3 sp, 7 cp
Maena Mag Raith: 4,025 gp, 3 sp, 7 cp (-300 gp for CMWs potion)
Zenpher Stillcloak: 4,025 gp, 3 sp, 7 cp

Maena wears only a simple chain shirt, so her armour could be upgraded to one of the masterwork armours. Vexander has a normal chain shirt as well.

The Elites have better armour. Zenpher's armour is already masterwork, and his family's shield is magical. Plus, as a halfling, none of the captured armour or shields are sized properly for him. Petronille's breastplate isn't masterwork, but Burchard and Emelia's are masterwork. Thiudimer has a magical breastplate already. Leadda is a wizard, so she won't want armour.

Ela already has numerous magical items, including a magical amulet, cloak, ring, and her bracers. She has a magical +1 adamantine dagger and a magical +1 light crossbow. The dagger is was given to her by the Wizard Council when she was made a captain in the Sectarians. She will not trade it away.

A 13th-level cleric is required to cast resurrection on Captain Camburn, so that is a minimum of 10,910 gp to have him brought back to life. 910 gp for the casting and 10,000 gp for the material components. That eats up most of Camburn's half-share.

I've decided that Lord Commander Oakfirst's half share is going to go to be split between the dead Regular's family and to Unglar's chosen faith (6,012 gp, 6 sp, and 9 cp each). Unglar was a follower of the Healer, also known as Alurene. The guard who fought on the wall was named Ketsu von Frey. His family isn't local to the city or even the Sem La Vah Valley. The gold will have to be taken to them in the village of Frey near the city of Ambris. And, no, the commander doesn't expect the PCs to deliver the gold. :D

Oh, Maena was also allocated a potion of cure moderate wounds, so that is another 300 gp off her share. Emelia also ended up with two CMWs potions. Camburn ended up with one of the "red" CMWs potions (and used it) and a potion of cat's grace, which I don't think he used.

Unglar also used a potion, which means the Temple of the Healer only gets 5,712 gp, 6 sp, and 9 cp.

There is one item in the treasure list that is worth more than any one PCs share: the unique Belt of Ruggedness. It's sell value is 28,000 gp, so any PC that wants to claim it will need to pay the extra 3,949 gp, 2 sp, and 6 cp.
