Kulan: Knightfall's Crisis in Bluffside Game [OOC]

Item distribution: @Aust Thale if you want to sell the items, they are worth a lot and are yours to use how you see fit. You can buy a replacement. Maybe they would be good items to trade for some good will in non-opposed thieves guild or with Dark Lanters? And with @Knightfall approval, you could ask for a better trade (lets say 70% of value) since it would be item of item direct trade instead of item->money->item?

I mean, humanbane is a great boon in the story where lots of enemies are human(oid)s.

In other news, Akos level up is almost complete, I'm still deciding between Fey Legacy and Mortalbane feats :(
I'm looking at utilizing the total from the previous treasure list as well as this one to figure out what Falen needs. I told @Knightfall that I'm cool with parting with the daggers. Call it Falen borrowing them from the treasure list to arm himself so he could actually contribute to a body count in a fight. Frankly, I've been concerned that the humanbane dagger is cursed (no indication of it; just kind of felt like it ought to be).

That's a great idea to ask for better trade amounts. However, I'm pretty sure that Falen can't keep both (too expensive). He needs a real go-to weapon, as well as something to crank up his AC. Past that, and a little increase in XP so he can level up (1100+/- xp is just too little a stretch to move through another encounter to wait for it), Falen will simply collect gold on the ledger or in gemstones). That's the way he rolls. So consider at least one, and probably both daggers back into the pot.

The sell value for the dancing dagger is already set at 70%. The reason why the humanbane dagger is set at only 50% is that it became very dirty and grimy while in Mani's possession. It was his 'brush', but he hardly ever cleaned it. It has his smell, his taint. Even if Falen cleans it, and I mean REALLY cleans it, it will still only be worth 60% of its market value.

Now, there is the option to auction it off in Bluffside as a legacy of the Old City Killer. There are some in the city who would be fascinated by owning the blade wielded by the killer, but Commander Oakfirst would object greatly to the PCs letting the blade out of their sight. Instead, he would want them to sell it to the city to stored away in a hidden vault and just pay them the 50/60%.

A reminder that since the items are being processed through the city, there will be a fee on the total treasure value that has to be paid to the city. Every character must pay that tax and include it as part of their share. That fee is 2%.

So, the fee cost against a full share is 481 407 gp. Half that for a half share.

Crap! I f*cked up!

The total number of shares should be 13 not 11. Six PCs with a full share and 14 NPCs with a half share.

I REALLY hate math sometimes.

Ela still takes the spellbook for the Wizard Council and the council pays the PCs/NPCs for the extra cost (714 gp, 7sp). If Ela wants to claim the book for herself, however, she has to pay the 2% fee (203 gp, 5 sp).

Ela de la Camoys - One month of Profession checks: 1D20+6 = [20]+6 = 26
1D20+6 = [3]+6 = 9
1D20+6 = [6]+6 = 12
1D20+6 = [4]+6 = 10
She's earned 28 gp and 5 sp in the last month. Her character sheet already had and additional 2 pp, 10 gp, and 15 sp.

So, she only has 60 gp available to her, which means the council will not let her claim the book until the fee is paid. She will have to sell her scrolls for 50% of their value. She has a scroll of flame arrow and a scroll of glitterdust, which she offers to the PCs first. If the PCs want the scrolls, then it will cost them 262 gp and 5 sp.

If the PCs don't want them, then she will has to sell them in the Wizard District at a loss (40%). That gives her a total of 270 gp. She pays the 2% fee and is left with 66 gp and 5 sp to live off.

It would be better to Lend her the money and get something in return. Like access to the book for copying spells

Starting from scratch for the half shares: revised sell value = 10,175.31. After paying the city's 2% fee, 9,971.81.

Key NPCs (and one Ex-PC)
  • Valentine Camburn: The value of Camburn's share is not enough to pay for his resurrection. Oakfirst will pay the difference in cost (938 gp, 2 sp) from his own half share, which means the donation to the Holy Sanctuary and the amount give to the dead guard family will be less. There is nothing left over for Camburn. The city will pay the PCs for the two potions (cat's grace, CMWs) that Camburn claimed during the battle.
  • Reginald Oakfirst:As noted above, the lord commander helps to resurrect his old friend and then splits the rest between the temple of Unglar's faith and Ketsu von Frey's family in the village of Frey. Unglar used one of the CMWs potions during the battle, so the donation is 180 gp less.
    • 4,336 gp and 8 sp to the Holy Sanctuary. 4516 gp and 8 sp to Ketsu's family. The gold allocated to the distant family will also be used to transport the young man's body to his home village.
  • Breva Sciarra: Breva's half share goes straight to the temple of the Purifier, the Castle of Purification. It is reduced by 180 gp for the potion of bull's strength he takes with him.
  • Custodio Vecchi:Custodio must tithe 5% of his half share to the Castle of Purification (508.77 gp, rounded up to 510 gp). This gives him 9,461 gp, and 8 sp to use to claim items.
    • If the magical monocle is bought, Custodio helps pay for it (71 gp). Each PC (but not Vitus) must chip in 71 gp to cover the cost beyond the value of 1,000 gp that would have been used to pay for the 10 pearls. I'm not going to make you guys worry about the 3 gp left over. The price for the monocle will be 1,497 gp.
Other NPCs
  • Leadda Aliev: TBD
  • Emelia Caden: Emelia claimed two of the "starburst" CMW potions during the battle. She probably used one of them after getting burned by The Beast. This leaves her with 9,611 gp and 8 sp left to claim.
  • Petronille Chauvechanteau: TBD
  • Dradan de Fresel: TBD
  • Ela de la Camoys: As noted in previous post.
  • Thiudimer Falstaff: TBD
  • Maena Mag Raith: As noted previously, Maena was given the amulet of natural armour +2by Ela, which she will want to keep, but the PCs can try to convince her to returned it and take something else (Diplomacy check). She also got a "starburst" CMWs potion. This leaves her with 4,991 gp and 8 sp left to claim. (I mistakenly wrote the market price for the amulet earlier.)
    • She wishes to upgrade her gear: Masterwork chain shirt (damaged; 100 gp); masterwork light steel shield (159 gp), masterwork short sword (186 gp), and a visored helmet (5 gp). She is a follower of the Purifier (converted by Sir Breva) and must tithe 5% of her total value to the Castle of Purification (508.77, rounded up to 510 gp).
    • This leaves her with 4,031 gp and 8 sp left to claim other items.
  • Sobla: n/a; only gains the Butcher's coin pouch, which should come out of Tuck's share. If @JustinCase objects to that, then she will have to give it back to him.
  • Vexander Terrahand: TBD
  • Burchard Tritten: Burchard took one of the "red" CMWs potions. This leaves him 9,791 gp and 8 sp.
  • Zenpher Stillcloak: Zenpher, like Maena, was given the ring of protection +2 by Ela. If he chooses to keep it, then he will have 5,171 gp and 8 sp left to claim.
