Hrm... I'm really not up on my FR lore... and my little bit of research was done years ago, so forgive if I oversimplify. I just know Lolth treats men little better than garbage, and the highest ranking male is still below the lowest ranking female.

Actually, that isn't quite correct either. The highest ranking males get a lot of respect from females, even the higher ranked ones. If you are using the FR's Menzoberranzan as a model for exampe, the Grand Wizard is a male, and even the Matron Mothers of each family show him respect (though they wouldn't put up with disrespect from him). As I said, it is pretty complicated. But drow males are definitely not treated as slaves...the drow have goblinoid and orc slaves that are treated as slaves.

Just trying to give you a little more background on the drow.

Wel I suppose if he was a male commoner/houseless he'd be treated pretty badly.

As to FR knowledge, all of mine comes from Salvatore.. though that does cover the majority of the drow stuff *L*

Yep, Salvatore is pretty much "the resource" for drow in the Realms. I think I have the 2E Drow of the Underdark book lying around here somewhere, though.

Rhun, do you know of any reference material I could sift through to get a better idea?

I type too slow. Anyways, Drow of the Underdark is on my Wishlist.

Basically, the idea was for my character to be mistreated to the point that he snaps, kills a Cleric of Lolth and flees the Underdark, looking to make his way elsewhere.

Anyways is your drow good/evil/neutral? What kind of personality does he have? Is he a generally OK kinda guy, or does he enjoy killing? You said he takes hits on people he feels deserved to die - What kind of criteria would he use? Depending on his outlook he may get along quite well with us.

I see it now.. the Atoning Weapon of Mass Destruction and the Drow Warlock travelling with the the Holy Warrior desperately trying to keep them in check.

My RG says he's Chaotic Good, and I said his criteria was anyone lording their authority about and oppressing others. He enjoys killing those who he thinks deserves to die, showing them that they aren't the gods they think they are. Aside from that, he's a pretty okay guy, if a bit dark.

lol, It's possible. I listed him as Chaotic good, though I think he has his 'relapses' into 'typical' Drow behaviour.

Drizz't was one of the only Drow with purple eyes...it is incredible rare, and most purple eyed drow are blind, and slain at birth.

Nilah's just that awesome then, right? Maybe they treated him like garbage afraid he'd turn out like Drizzt, but for whatever reason didn't kill him?
