Divine Favour and Divine Power if you're expecting a long fight
Favour being 1 minute (2 extended), and Power being round/lvl (20 rounds/2 minutes extended at lvl 10).

Also I know you can't extend it, but Righteous Might (lvl 5) is the spell 2 cast if you wanna melee as a cleric. Either Followed or Preceded by Divine Power. Those two spells are really all you need to be a competent melee fighter. (and if you're gonna do that, don't waste any money on a belt of giants strength).

My PC is mostly a merchant, who adventures in his spare time. He isn't much of a bodyguard. Unless he runs that on the side of his other business ventures.

ACtually Jemal, if you want to be LG, perhaps we can work together? My PC would be an expert at routing out evil, but could probably use a hand in a straight up fight. As long as your PC is ok with either being a paid merc for the church of the Red Knight/Tempus, or enjoys the acts of putting evil doers down...

Thus far he's a Drow male (which afaik means they're little better than slaves to be used as a tool and as a DNA donor for the women), who got fed up with the abuse from his 'mistress' and killed her, took her rod of Withering(which she used on him when he displeased her with his progress under the tutelage of a Wizard) and then fled the city and the underdark mostly.

Once he did that he started taking what essentially were hits, against people he felt deserved to die. Which basically would be anyone who oppresses others, lording authority over them.

That's what I've got in mind atm. Not sure how well it'd work in the setting, but I'll be able to tweak it a bit more once I hear the setting a bit more and the adventure hook.

Perhaps you managed to break me away from my evil masters (In this setting that would most likely be Thay) and show me what life can really be like. In my original character background that was essentially what happened with a goblin priest whom Whin befriended during one of his 'missions'.

I could be following you around aiding you as a way of atoning for what I've done and paying you back.

It is quite a bit more complicated than that...but yes, drow are generally a matriarchal society.

The term is Matron Mother, at least in Menzoberranzan. I think Ched Nasad uses the same title.

Hrm... I'm really not up on my FR lore... and my little bit of research was done years ago, so forgive if I oversimplify. I just know Lolth treats men little better than garbage, and the highest ranking male is still below the lowest ranking female.
