Here's my take on the barbarian class. I tried to keep it dead simple, in the Shadowdark style, but still hit all the major class tropes.

Also, I would just like to bring up a point that this and other homemade SD classes have reinforced to me, and that is that the state of being constrained (in this case by the format and balance of SD classes) really causes the creator to search out and bring for the essence of what it is that they are trying to accomplish, which leads to a very simple class that one may look at and instantly both understand on an intellectual level, and grasp on a primal level that it represents a specific archetype.

In other words, Shadowdark classes are the haiku of fantasy RPG class design.

I like that! Although come to think of it, the real way to say "as a free action" Shadowdark-style is not to say it at all and just let the DM decide if it is or isn't. That's pretty much how the entire rules are written, for better or worse.
