Indeed, manly hugging is fine. Bear hugs, toss him to the ground when he's hugging you, those hugs are fine. But no girly hugging! ;)

Well, this once again turned to the midnight is good because X and bad because Y...

Wombat has a solid opinion from what I read from him so far, and I think he has a good point to it, except that it makes no sense to my vision of the setting. On the original topic, drop by AtS.org and we will be more than kind to your arrival, we have a lot of movement around too.

Also, Ash being a sage might be a little off, don't you think Dirigible? After all he is dropping to a far place in the boards... ;) Now I am the greatest poster in AtS, org, what made my posts here few and random... :)

Anyway, Midnight is the best setting I have ever seen, the mechanics work well so far, no concern. Anyone who likes the setting but does not know how he could handle a campaign on it, buy Crown of Shadow, they made a good job on it, and we are hammering other things into it at AtS.org, what would result in a pretty good adventure for leevls 1-8 or so.

Anyway, good to see you again guys! ;)

Nif,

No offense my friend, but I kind of decide who get the title of "Sage" of their particular world. At least d20 wise. I leave the D&D worlds to other mugs. Besides there was a time, not too long ago, where Ash was doing a LOT of pimpage.

Also regarding Wombat, yes his opinion makes SENSE but it's much like saying "Gee you know Ravenloft/Dark Sun is cool but why are there dragon kings? I mean why does casting spells hurt thing?" That coipled with the fact his recent outing of posts have read less than stellar about ANYTHING that was even remotely good, Draconominicon, Complete Warrior, up coming WotC stuff, d20 improvements, etc. Sorry but that kind of posting doesn't make me want to hear his opinion that much or give it much credence. Do I respect it? I try to. Mostly because it IS just opinion. But that being said, I do feel he's in the wrong.

Btw speaking of AtS.org, when are you guys going to put out the second half?!

At this point, we aren't sure. My participation on this board isn't the only thing that has suffered of late. Real life has endeavored to drive me mad.

I ran a successful game of Midnight (successful since the players begged me not to move away and finish the game, but real life, eh...)

Here are the things I noticed-

Poor magic armour availability means that with fighters BAB increasing, AC values dont increase at the same pace. I wound up allowing players to add their base Reflex save to their AC (Base Reflex minus 2 if your were a Rogue or Defender) in order to keep the game balanced

Channellers with a high stat and a Cure Moderate Wounds Talisman can out-heal even traditional healing specialist clerics at up to 5th level!

As for the defeating Izrador question. Well I ran a game where they contributed to banishing Izrador back to the Pit. It started out with a Grail Quest to rediscover the Old Gods. Instead they were tested for possible Messiahdom. They all failed that test, so intead were chosen to protect the infant messiah when he was born. In the vein of Biblical mythology, they had to protect this infant baby from the Occupation forces, Jahzir and the Wrath of Izrador, smuggling the child to safety with the elves.

At great cost, and many PC deaths, they achieved this, and in our epilogue, we covered the Messiahs Pilgrimage of Peace, ascension to the Heavens and the resultant banishment of Izrador.

Defeating Izrador is possible. But not by hitting him with an epic-level sword.
