Submit the character you want to play.

The only issue I could see would be when it comes to recruitment for missions (the more variety in a mission team the better.)

Yeah, team stuff was at the back of my mind too, balance wise at least. Although, specifically being picked or skipped for missions was not. Hmmm.

Still, I think the basic concept is quite cool with a lot of room for some pretty neat RP. And of course, a BG that the GM could have fun messing with if desired. . . As if GMs ever pass up a chance to have fun with a PC who leaves him/herself open to it. :D

Salix, if you can tell me OOC, are Relic's revenants actually undead? Do they have physical bodies or not? Just thought it would be interesting to have as an origin if I decide to make the incorporeal charachter. He/she could be that first revenant that Paladin killed. As the body (I'm assuming) drops, the spirit flies free but is somehow unable to go to the afterlife due to tainting of Relic's dark magics. After a little time getting acclimated to new existence, he/she follows hero's back to Resolute HQ. If this all sounds okay as far as you're concerned let me know just in case I go with that character. Thanks!
The revenants are actually reanimated corpses from the mask's previous owner's group of attendents. They have their original consciousness. If you want to work on something with Relic, let me know and I'll try to work it into Antiques Roadshow. You could have someone whose spirit is contained in an artifact and is released. Maybe the continuity experts should chime in to make sure that kind of origin is consistent with where LS is going..

Hi all, MM newbie here. I know. I know. Your thinking, "Awww look at the newbie. Think of all the 'cute and stupid' things it will say as it figures out the rules. . ." :) Or, maybe not. Anyway, I have been wanting to join a supers PBeM for a while now, and lo and behold lookie what I stumbled upon. Woot!

Given the season, I figured a ghost type character would rock, but I see one in progress already. . . Should I change my concept to keep things more varied? Or, proceed away?

Welcome to LS! I agree with everyone else, build the character you like. It will work itself out. You might want to keep an eye towards having your guy do something somewhat unique, like distance attack. That way you fill a separate niche from similar characters. When your character is ready for completion make sure you actually email the character judges to let them know its ready to be looked at. They like that.

So far no one has been passed over for a mission. As we grow however I can see a GM who only wants 4 or 5 characters only picking one Ghost Guy out of the ready room full of 16 heroes. But hopefully as the stable of heroes grows so does the number of GMs.

Note that Aquaphibian has been updated on on the Character Submission thread.
Are you just asking the board what they think, or is it ready for the judges to look at? When your character is ready for completion make sure you actually email the character judges to let them know its ready to be looked at. They like that.

JR did send us the new version which has been commented on via e-mail.
Still a couple of bumps to smooth out (mostly due to only having 1e I am sure).

Hi and welcome from me along with everyone else. As the other one currently looking at a "ghost" character I also say to go ahead and do what you want to play. I'm still deciding between two concepts and that would be for my 2nd character who can only be PL8 anyway. I may yet choose to go with the android/robot concept. I'm currently trying to build both and seeing what I like. That assumes that I really have time for a second character anyway. Heck, someday when I learn the rules more (and have the time) I'd like to try GMing a game of this. So don't wait on account of me or anybody else. Make what you want and get it posted. The more the merrier!

Salix, thanks for the info on the revenants. Sound like it could be promising if I decide to go that route. I just thought it would be cool for the origin of one character to tie in with actual campaign stuff from an adventure. Especially if that happens to coincide with action from my first character.

Thanks all for the greetz and the go ahead. So here is what BG I have cooked up to date. FWIW I am aiming for a martial artsy ghost type, so I will have to work out the whole incorporeal effects corporeal thing. I have some ideas to kep it balanced, but need to look more at the rules. . . Anyway, does the BG seem like its on the right track?

---

Li Hong was a 17 year old student and aspiring martial artist who lived in Hong Kong. He was going to finish school, join the army and probably marry Wen. Then he would. . . um. . . Well, he did not know. But realistically, that was about as much forethought as one could expect from a 17 year old anyway. Too bad it was all for naught.

---

Hong was headed home from the dojo on his old scooter, and was supposed to get some duck eggs on the way back. But, home was in the opposite direction of Wen’s parents house. He had wanted to stop by tonight and read a poem to her that he wrote comparing moonlight and her beauty. With the full moon coming up later tonight it would be just the time to read it too, at least if her parents let him. Sigh. He had better really, really hurry, or he would never get it all done in time. Being scolded for being late, and for holding up dinner, was simply not an option.

Decision made, he redlined his scooter, dodging thought sluggish traffic more aggressively as the horns of cars he passed sounded angrily in his wake. The old scooter buzzed and shuddered at the abuse. Apparently it was as angry at him as the other drivers he thought and laughed aloud, only to stop suddenly in confusion. *BANG* his front tire blew. Skid. . . Partial Recover. . . Pot hole. . . Flip. . . And then he was airborne, looking at the headlights of an oncoming BMW 3 series, “Pearlescent white? Schweet!” he quipped mentally. Then. . . blackness.

Wait a mess he thought as he looked at his body from above the accident scene. His head was almost detached by the glass from the now blown in windshield of the bimmer. Lots of blood too. The other guy looked okay. I guess his airbag worked so maybe there was something to all that safety sh*t after all. Probably should have worn a helmet, even if that was totally dork factor 9. And. . . Awww damn! My scooter is totaled. Explaining this all to Mom and Dad was going to get me grounded for life, or worse! Hmm… Probably should figure out why I can see my body from up here, and why I don’t feeling like crap becuase I sure look. . . Uh. . . *ucking hells. This. . . This is not right. Am. . . I. . . dead?

Wow! Nice BG Fenris2! You definately don't have to worry about character overlap. Even if we both do our 'ghosts' they will be totally different becaue mine involves lots of darkness control and shadow attacks.

Okay, got another rules question for the more experienced folks here. If I have 3 powers linked together and then do some alternate powers under that, do the AP's have a spending limit equal to the total of all 3 linked powers or only the most expensive of the 3, or something else entirely?

Thanks for the help...again. ;D

So, here an easy way to create an array:

1. Decide how much you want to spend in the array.
2. Decide how many Alternate power in the array.
3. Decide if you want an array all-or-nothing or a dynamic array (1PP or 2PP per alternate power)
4. If you want a single power to be linked with the power in teh array, include it in the array.
5. If you want a power to be linked with all power in the array, just pay it in each array.

Example:
I decide to pay 40 PP for an array of four powers, I could do:

Main Power A:
Blast 10
Linked(0PP/rank): Fatigue 10

Alternate Power 1 of Power A:
Blast 10
Linked(0PP/rank): Stun 10

Alternate Power 2 of Power A:
Blast 10
Extra: Autofire
Extra: Area

Alternate Power 3 of Power A:
Blast 10
Strike 10
Extra: Aura

I've specified the cost of the linked extra, as at 1PP/rank, I can choose to use the power together or either of them separatly. At 0PP/ranbk, you must use them together. It is both or none.

I hope it is clear.
