M&M: San Angelo Issue #2

The Ringmaster nods and begins to contact the others via the telepathic link that Orchid created. "Centurian believes that he may have found a mine that could contain our bad guys. I'll meet any of you who need a lift in the parking lot." With that, he turns the carpet and flies towards the parking lot to pick any of the others up.

Spyder, who was search around on foot will head over to wear the others have gathered. He will stay back of the party and watch the surrounding area, just in case there is an ambush or something awaiting them...

[OCC: sorry for the delay, with the site down and work crazy and then the long weekend this is the first time back to the site for me in almost a week]

Foothills outside San Angelo, near Lake Oro
1:30 PM
Sunday, March 2nd, 2003

Everyone gathers near the Lightning Strike mine entrance that Centurion has discovered is different from the others in the area. (OOC: I'm assuming that ORCA joined everyone near the mine entrance.) Just as Spyder finishes making his way up to join the others, an explosion occurs from inside the entrance to the mine, spraying rocks and dirt nearly 100 feet out from the entrance to the shaft. Everyone is forced to dive for cover to keep from being crushed by flying rocks and boulders. When the dust clears, the entrance to the Lightning Strike mine has collapsed. It is completely filled with dirt, an rocks ranging in size from pebbles to boulders.

OOC: Everyone made reflex saves to dodge the largest chunks of debris and avoid getting hurt.

The RIngmaster looks down at the mine from his perch on the carpet. Speaking to nobody in particular he says, "Well, that's not good." Turning to Tyke and then each of the others in turn he poses a question. "So, what do we do now? Do any of you think that there's another entrance into the mine? Or can we move this rubble in a timely matter?"

"I may be able to get us through." ORCA steps infront of the group and holds out his sonic gauntlets and begins to send waves on focuus sound into the rubble. [ORCA spends a hero point to take the Tunneling power stunt, I think that's allowed, I don't have my book with me to check.]

Spyder's eyes get big at the tunneling abilities of ORCA but then remembers to look around and watch out for any other surprises that these villains might have in store for them (basically being lookout)

Shade shrugs, "I can walk through that. I'll go ahead and take a look." He walks into ground beside the mine entry, to avoid interfering with Orca's tunneling. Every now and then he pokes his head over to see if he's found a clear area.

OOC: You are correct, Set. You can use the rule called "extra effort" to temporarily pick up a power stunt. Spending the hero point keeps you from becoming fatigued afterwards.

IC:
ORCA begins using his sonic powers to create a tunnel through the rubble. While he is working on it, Shade moves near the entrance to the mine shaft, trying to stay out of ORCA's way and phases into the ground.

"Where's the kid going?" Tyke asks no one in particular.

Spyder keeps watch around the area, expecting some sort of further attack from whoever might be inside the mine.

Shade makes his way through the ground, occassionally coming up and trying to find a clear area. After several minutes, he comes up out of the ground into a small pocket that is clear of rubble. In the small space is a wall of some sort. Looking closer, it appears to be made of metal. Shade is unsuccessful in attempting to pass through it in his incorporeal state. Some sort of force field is protecting it.

By the time Shade has reached the metal wall, ORCA has tunneled through to some sort of solid barrier that he cannot tunnel through. The tunnel he created is more than 100 feet long, and disappears into the darkness of the collapsed mine.

OOC: Okay, Shade is in a pocket that is free of rubble, with earth and stone on three sides and a metal wall protected with a force field on the fourth side. His rubble free pocket is not part of the tunnel created by ORCA. ORCA tunneled through for about 30 seconds before reaching an impassable barrier, the same metal wall that Shade has discovered, just a different location along the wall.

The Ringmaster shrugs at Tykes question about Shade. Several seconds later he notices that something has happened with Orcas tunneling. "Have you made it through?"

OOC:
Depending on what Orca does, Ringmaster will head down the tunnel on his carpet with Tyke once they determine that the tunneling is complete. The following IC post is once the team makes it to the metal wall.

IC:
Ringmaster turns to Tyke. "I'm guessing that if Orca can't break through this with his tunneling, then I can't with my powers. You want a crack at it?"
