Massachusetts game day July... And a Good Time Was Had by All

Thanks!

Kira and I also want to add our thanks to KB & KB's hubby, it was a great time. I especially want to say thanks to Kahuna_Burger, Piratecat and Guido79 for running the games I was in. It was great to sit on that side of the screen for once and I had a blast! Although now that I've actually gotten my player fix for the decade I think next time I want to run; Pulp Action Theatre, Grooooovy d20 Future cyber-spying, or maybe a strait up Ravenloft or CoC run. [smoke] My gears are turning. [/smoke]

Another side effect of this was a desire to possibly host one of these dame-gay thingies. With luck we can still get CarlZog out from Providence and KB & Hubby up with the new addition, and if I'm real lucky the Albany crew. Thinking October/November or after the new year just so as not to overlap and give some time from this one and the scheduled Albany GameDay.

The final side effect was that I had to go out and buy a stupid Xbox yesterday to play that D&D Heroes game. We spent Monday night on the couch with a thin stream of drool leaking from our mouths, but I'm 12th level or so. :D

You could definitely count me in in the late fall -- especially if there's pulp and spy games involved!

I'd be up for a game day in the fall as well, and maybe even willing to give a shot at running something. I was too intimidated to run a game this time, but meeting everyone and seeing how they ran games, I think I could give it a shot. Now all I need to do is work up my ideas into something that can be played out in about 3 hours...that may be the toughest part.

Game days often run 4 hour slots. We may want to consider that next time; I know that with character orientation and explaining new rules, I had some trouble staying in the time limits myself. :)

I'd also suggest allotting a time between sessions -- 10-15 minutes or whatever -- for DM setup, bathroom and food breaks, and to give everybody a well-defined chance to shift gears between battling vampires and taking off for outer space!

I don't think we had a game that run under 3 hours. Maybe Gurps but that was boiled down for maximum fun and roleplaying.

It's funny becuase I've noticed that when you plan for 4 hours someone almost always ends up finishing short.

Oh, and since I haven't said it yet, Thank you KB & David. I had a ball and enjoyed playing and dming all weekend. I only wish it could have gone on longer.

I should have the Albany Gameday information together soon. It will most likely be out here on the 25th of september but things may change between now and then.

When I do a house con, I usually do Saturday 9am-1pm, 2pm-6pm, 7pm-11pm; if you leave a half hour for meals you finish at 10pm instead. For Sunday I usually do 10am-2pm and 3pm-7pm, with just two slots. This leaves time for chatting and socializing.

That being said, only the last game on Sunday felt rushed. All the others I played in or ran there actually finished. A rarity! :)

Hope to see you all again, anyone who played with me or the hubby and would be willing to come up once in a while for a regular group shout out...
Between first signing up for the Gameday and last weekend, I found a spot in a great weekly group. But they're mostly all D&D, so I'd be totally up for an occasional off-the-wall game. I'm still eager to play the "Bughunt", and in the Fall, I'd be very up for running some pulp action espionage.

Pkitty claims he's no were near as good as his wife at running CoC
His claim is correct. She's the best gamemaster I've ever played under and CoC is her specialty. (I consider PKitty the 2nd best gamemaster I've ever played under.)

if that's the case i hope i get to play in one of here games someday, cause his was awsome!
I hope you do too. It's a real treat.

KB and others - sorry that I wasn't able to attend. I can usually make it to the Boston game days but last weekend just wasn't in the cards (stayed home all days both days for a contractor who never showed up). I'm glad you gameday went well.
