Master of Shrouds

First Post
I'm building a char and want to go Master of Shrouds. I'm allowed to use Unearthed Arcana and this is where i go my idea. For MoS i need 5 ranks in Know(religion), Spellcraft and Concentration, plus Augment Summon and Spell focus(conjour), and +5 will save. So here goes:

I take a flaw (Feable [the one with -1hp/lev]) to get Able Learner to access all skills.
I take the querk (sorry i can't remember the name) that gives my +1 will save and -1 reflex save.
Human so i can cover the 2 feats required.
Monk first off for the +2 will. Dump 4 skill points into Know(religion), Spellcraft and Concentration.
Cleric second for the next +2 will. Add 1 skill Know(religion), Spellcraft and Concentration.

Now i meat all the requirements for MoS by lev 3. Anythoughts?

I would take levels in Human Paragon, not Monk. Human Paragon is a 3 level UA variant that grants 2/3 casting progression, 3/4 BAB, good will save, 1 free martial weapon proficiency (very handy), 1 bonus feat, 10 class skills of your choice, the ability to make 1 of those skills a class skill for all classes your character has, 4 skill points, d8 HD, and a +2 to one ability. This should also allow you to get rid of that flaw, and possibly Able Learner.

You can also take the Cloistered Cleric UA variant, which gives you Decipher Script, Speak Language, and all Knowledge skills as class skills, 6 skill points, Lore (basically Bardic Knowledge), free Knowledge domain, and a few Wizard spells to your spell list.

This quirk you're taking -- does it boost your base save, or is it a bonus? If it's a bonus, it won't let you qualify for Master of Shrouds, since MoS needs a base Will save of +5.

Detached

You maintain a distance from events that keeps you grounded but limits your reaction speed.
Benefit: You gain a +1 bonus on will saves.
Drawback: You take a -1 penalty on Reflex saves.
Roleplaying Ideas: Characters with this trait are likely to be quiet and restrained, but they might be vocal when others falter in their beliefs.

SAVING THROWS

Generally, when you are subject to an unusual or magical attack, you get a saving throw to avoid or reduce the effect. Like an attack roll, a saving throw is a d20 roll plus a bonus based on your class, level, and an ability score. Your saving throw modifier is:
Base save bonus + ability modifier
So by raw they should stack fine

Human Paragon sounds like a better choice, but I would go Cleric at level 1, then Human Paragon 3. This will still net you slightly earlier entry than Clr 6, but will remove 1 CL from you.

That trait you mentioned... It would not work. You need a base save bonus of +5 to Will. Base Save Bonus comes from levels. The little blurb you brought up about the save being base+abil is only partially correct. It doesn't mention all the spell/item-based bonuses you can receive, like from a Cloak of Resistance. The bonus granted by "Detached" is not an increase to your Base Will Save, it is just an unnamed bonus.

I have only used the prestige class as an opponent. While the Summon Undead ability of that class is very strong, it still takes a full-round to use. So it is rather hard to use it during combat. Unless you have Magic or Trickery domain, consider taking a level of Sorcerer or wizard (or Duskblade, maybe). It allows you to use Wands of Invisibility-related spells.

Damn, that why I ask here first.

Couldn't maxing UMD allow me to use wands of invis?
