What weapons do you think will go to what category?

Axe: hand axe, battleaxe, greataxe
Bow: shortbow, bow, longbow, greatbow
Crossbow: hand crossbow, crossbow, heavy crossbow, repeating crossbow
Flail: flail, heavy flail, spiked chain
Hammer: light hammer, warhammer, throwing hammer
Heavy Blade: longsword, falchion, greatsword, bastard sword, scythe
Light Blade: dagger, short sword, rapier, scimitar, kukri, sickle, kama, shurikan
Mace: light mace, mace, heavy mace, morningstar
Pick: light pick, war pick, heavy pick
Polearm: halberd, glaive, guisarme, trident, ranseur
Sling: sling
Spear: shortspear, longspear, javelin, lance
Staff: quarterstaff
Unarmed: unarmed

Where do these go: nunchaku, greatclub, club, dart, sap, sai, siangham, whip, bolas, net

I think that some of the light and heavy designations go away. Such as the light hammer, light mace, light pick.

Flail: nunchaku, bolas, whip

Unarmed: net, nunchaku, whip

Mace: greatclub, club, sap

Light Blade: dart, sai

Spear: siangham, dart

All I can think of right now. I put some in unarmed in that, I imagine they would more help/enhance unarmed techniques rather then be a weapon style onto themselves.

Mace is your basic, roundish, bop on head so I think greatclub, club and sap work there.

Dart could fit in either since some darts are larger and would fit under a spear, while others are quite small and fit under light blade.

Sai is basically a dagger in many regards, so light blade

Siangham is essentially a small spear, so spear.

Personally, I'd put the sap, club and greatclub in the mace category.

The dart could go in either light blades or spears (considering the size of the war dart).

Also, the short sword is missing from light blades. ;)

Sai and siangham are specialized daggers IMO, and should be rolled into the dagger (maybe I'm wrong on that, I know sai aren't normally supposed to have sharpened points).

Whips, bolas, and nets? Too exotic for a category maybe.

Here are my guesses:

nunchaku....(not in PH: saved for when monk appears)
greatclub....Unarmed
club...........Unarmed
dart...........Spear
sap............Unarmed
sai.............(not in PH: saved for when monk appears)
siangham.....(not in PH: saved for when monk appears)
whip...........Flail
bolas..........Sling
net............(not even guessing)

If weapons can have multiple categories, it seems equally likely that they can have NO categories.

Seems perfect for clubs, the traditional crappy weapons of D&D
