Welcome...

Latecomer I know-but I 'd like to come and play. I'll try and bring my group, and let me check things out. I may be able to GM something if there are slots still available.

Peter,

Welcome. We are still finalizing the date and venue at U of M. We will likely issue another call for DMs/Genres if we pick up some additional space...so stay tuned.

We hope to have the venue thing locked up in the next couple of days and will move on to pre-reg and game sign-up. If you think you are coming, please drop by the "Roll-call" thread in my sig and let us know you are attending and how many folks you think are coming with you.

Thanks!

Well, It looks like things are forming up for the September date. Providing that is the day that goes, I am posting my teaser.....

DM: Bill2825

SLOT: Evening (PM)

GAME: Starwars D20

TEASER: Two years after the chosen one, Anakin Skywalker, joined the Jedi Order, a disturbance known and the Sith Reborn attempted a rise to power. The insurgence was halted by a young group of Jedi, destroying what was believed to be the head of the Reborn. The Order is still searching for certainty that the Sith Reborn is no more. While the council holds the young padawans in high regard, it is always prudent to verify their claims. The party, with their newly raised Jedi Knights, has been assigned the task of verifying the destruction and dissolution of the Order.

NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 5 (with alternate 6th spot)

NUMBER OF OPEN PLAYER SLOTS: 4(5)

PC TYPES/LEVELS: Pre-generated levels 7-8

GAME RATINGS (SCALE OF 1 - 10):
Action = 6
Role-Playing = 8
Puzzles/Mystery = 7

MATURITY RATING: PG-13 for language and fictional violence

DM: Bill2825
Player 1: Reserved
Player 2: Open
Player 3: Open
Player 4: Open
Player 5: Open
Alt Player 6: Open

Notes: I do not run with a battle mat or miniatures. I run an “Imagination is the best screen for roleplaying” type of game, so I will describe (not to boring detail) and hope everyone becomes immersed. This also tends away from more Tactical combat.

I am using “Yellow" as my color, so those wanting to sign up for this game (once sign-ups are allowed) should use "Yellow" as well.

Waiting to hear from DRM...

So is the plan still for 10/2 or are we keeping it for 9/25?

D'karr,

I am awaiting confirmation from DRM on the TGC (Terrapin Gaming Guild) fundage and whether or not we can get the Grand Ballroom for 9/25. If either of those ISN'T the case, we will slide to 10/2 and pick-up the Colony Ballroom.

I will change the header on the post as soon as I hear something from Kevin (DelayedReactionMan).

Hey DRM! You out there? Hoping to pass on the word soon...

I think we should go with the 10-02-04 date if we don't hear something by next week (Monday or Tuesday) and seal up the deal with the Colony room before someone else slips in to reserve it before us. Even if we lose some people, I think we would still be at 60+ people plus the UMD gaming club attendees.

Paging Xath...

Xath,

Kevin may be out of town or just busy...

Can you try to catch up with him so we can put the venue/date to bed and move on to bigger and better things ;)?

DRM, not trying to bust on you...appreciate the continued help!

Sorry, I'm here. I've been either sick as a dog, building a set, or both.

The $250 has been confirmed by the SGA. I'll go in tommorrow and talk with the security folks about costs, but given the nature of the event I do not see security being an issue if there are no vendors.

Unless you say otherwise, tommorrow at noon I'm going in tommorrow and reserving the Grand Ballroom. I'll also confirm the existance or nonexistance of any security requirements (assuming 100 attendees, pre-registration, and no cash flow), as well as requirements given vendor attendance.

On a personal note, I'd like to make this as open to the DC/MD/VA community as possible. Pre-registration will keep it close, but I'd rather not have a situation where UMD people don't get in. Beyond that things look good.

[EDIT]This is it folks. They're starting to give me dirty looks every time I wander into the OCR.[/EDIT]

[EDIT]Oh yeah, I just put in a request for an additional $75 from the SGA. Hopefully the VP of Finance REALLY likes me.[/EDIT]

Kevin,

Thanks for all of your help...this wouldn't be happening without all your ground work. With the Grand Ballroom, space will not be an issue...there will be more than enough room to accomadate opening gaming/non-RPG type games. We can get to the structure/set-up after the space is confirmed.

I am assuming (you know how that goes) that the tables/chairs come with the rental fee? Hopefully we don't have any additional costs on that. Once we get the space locked, let me know when and how you need the EN World $s. I can put it on a credit card...or do a check...just let me know.

Also, I will probably arrange a time to swing by again to do a space layout. Does OCR have space planning maps of the GB? The web site picture is just a bit too small for proper planning ;)!

I look forward to hearing from you when you get this locked in. You have my mobile if you need to call me.

Thanks,

~ Old One
