MD-VA-DC Game Day - 10/2/04: Crunch Time Approaches - Volunteers Needed!

We are scheduling W-W-A-A-A-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y out for a EN World Game day. We will have a number of last minute add/drops...plus those that never RSVP or sign-up for a game...plus a number from the TGC. I think DRM's last headcount was ~ 20...but I wouldn't be suprised if we get a few more than that from the on-campus group.

I know there are a couple in my gaming group that will probably come, but haven't signed up yet either.

I don't think we really need to worry about "advertising" widely for this...this is really designed more as small get-together as opposed to a "come one, come all" Con. The last thing we need, IMO, is 40-50 people to show up with no DMs, no open game slots and nothing for them to do.

Just an observation I made. Plus just a few weeks back we were talking about venders, custom badges, etc. A lot more effort then I am talking about. I can understand starting small. I also understand having a boat load of people show up with no DMs. What I was trying to do was drum up more community support for the Game Day. Sorry won't happen again. I will not put up a sign unless the powers that be (i.e. Old One) wishes it so.

Check out the sign-up thread, as I have been trying to keep track of those that are definites. Presently we are looking at 53, and that's without any of DRM's crew from the Terrapin Gaming Club (~20?).

Wasn't trying to squash your initiative...sorry if my post came across that way. Plus, no one made me "Lord of the Manor" ! I just think that we will continue to add attendees gradually (and probably another game or three) over the coming months. I would be very suprised if we don't end up with well over 100 attendees, which is pretty big. If we were 2-3 weeks away and only had 30 people signed up, then I would be worried...

Anyone else wanna chime in on this? EN World democracy and all that !

I just think that we will continue to add attendees gradually (and probably another game or three) over the coming months. I would be very suprised if we don't end up with well over 100 attendees, which is pretty big. If we were 2-3 weeks away and only had 30 people signed up, then I would be worried...

I didn't mean to sound so harsh . I was trying to drum up support for the Game Day. I tend to get excited about such things.

I think Double O is right - it will escalate once it gets closer to the game day. Starting early is great though, it's enough time to drum up support, book a good venue, and organize the games. If you build it, they will come...

I haven't been to a FLGS in ages and I have zero contacts with any. Should someone with email links to a bunch send out a notice? We have a few tables left to add more depth and variety to the games listed. Just a thought.
