OOC: as was mentioned earlier. Just because you're late to the thread doesn't mean you character was late to the meeting. You're in. I think you need to be in to be included in the adventure. Don't worry about the continuity of it. For something this large, some handwaving has to happen.
(OOC: That is correct. Real world time ordering does not correlate directly to game time. To enforce it otherwise would lead to terrible game slowdown)

So, I am dismissed outright? everyone has a mouth for their own ideas- though no ear for one that could lead us to the heart of the CULT! I challenge those assembled to provide a reason based on logic - not morality, that would cause my idea to raise a dead cultist for interrogation to be dismissable!

"If I may?" Ashnar asks, and if allowed, she turns to the dwarf. "Resurrection magic does not work for this purpose. The soul is simply given the option of returning, and it knows who it is trying to bring it back to live. In many cases, the soul of a cultist would realize that it is a foe of the Lichwyrm who is trying to bring it back, and it would refuse to return. Other means of speaking with the dead tend to be similarly unreliable."

ooc- I seem to recall- though i'm at work- that the dead can tell the alignment of the caster- that is all. that is easy enough to trick.

Then what about speak with dead or turning them into a ghoul?

Jinx keeps quiet throughout most of the debate, simply taking notes - he doesn't have much to add, really, though he does seem to smile a bit as his stacked-dominoes theory of mobilisation seems to be alive in the minds of the higher-ups as well.

When, nearby, Hasin and Ashnar start debating, he modestly throws in a thought.. "The honourable dwarf maybe ain't right about resurrectin' one, but he does have somethin' of a point, ma'am.. we're told the Phi-lactery got made immune to scryin' and divinin' and such, but what about the cult itself? Not all of 'em, and all their assets, can be warded all the time, aye?"

(They learn alignment, name, and patron god if the cleric has one. If we have an evil cleric on our side, sure, it could work, but even then the soul is not compelled to return. I'm pretty sure that animating a creature as an undead usually means they lose their memories, though I'm not 100% on that. With Speak with dead, the dead gets a save if the alignment differs, and the answers tend to be cryptic.)

OOC: Thanks

IC: Ash takes note in his head of what he hears, straining to hear bits and pieces of conversation being spoken. Then looks over as a friendly face (Jinx) begins to speak. Nodding in agreement

Richard Rawen - Human Fighter 3

OOC:
I apologize for my late entry, a while ago Rinya spoke up about a Dragon that she, Lucien and Richard encountered (Rowan was also there, yet I do not see him posting).

I made a d20 ck vs Richard's INT, rolled an 8 of 13 and would like to be able to relate some of what this Dragon said... hopefully the DM's will apply it to the NPC's . . .
Richard is a large human with boyish features. If ever there was an 'honest face' Richard has it... bluntly and rudely honest at times, but honest none the less.

IC: Richard, having been rather occupied with a ravenously beautiful young woman (Ok, so he was mostly just staring raptly) for the majority of the time, hears Rinya's short speech concerning their experience with the Dragon.

Standing up, he makes his way down a few benches and waits to be recognized, not willing to go down into the middle. "My name is Richard ap Rawen, a fighter. I have survived capture by orcs as a child, an experience which cost me my childhood and my family. It also taught me the value of life... of the struggle and fight and determination it takes to survive and flourish in this hard world. Who and what you choose to trust is often the difference between life and death. I have no reason to lie to you, and will submit to whatever truth-magics any would use upon me. Whatever your opinions of what has been said, I can assure you only of what I have seen:
Less than a month past our group was ambushed by a Land Shark and sorely pressed. We overcame this challenge to find ourselves wounded yet whole.

Then the Dragon landed. It was a Bronze, and I'm told that means that it was not Evil.
Richard shrugs and continues, "It called itself Terrymandanosus and told us it was seeking it's family, it mistook one of our group as having a similar scent to one of it's descendants. Then it warned us that, and I quote as best I can, 'There are dangerous signs throughout the world. A great darkness is gathering. Dragons stir in their caves, and potent forces exert influence throughout the land.', he said that 'forces of death were gathering their soldiers.' and ' It is a time for all to stand close to those dear to them, for trouble stirs from all directions.' . . . these were the words of a Dragon, words of warning. When we asked this mighty being what we should do, he responded that we should return to our cities and gather forces... so believe in the lich dragon threat or don't, but you can question us with your magics, and also the troops of a Lord Westmoreland whose land we were near. I don't pretend to know what to do about the shards. I just know that dark times were foretold by a Dragon and an undead Dragon sounds pretty on the mark to me. I will lend my strength and steel to whatever force is needed to track down this cult and determine what if any part they have in the trouble that was foretold." With that the large human looks about the room to see if any would challenge his words...

Peladus Bralc, human Wizard 1

During the brief pause between the statements and the proposals, Ashnar looks at Peladus. "You have been unusually quiet so far." she whispers to him.
Peladus smiles, leaning back in his chair.

"One of my masters told me once that the desire to hear one's own voice rises in direct proportion to the number of other voices which are present. The knack, he said, was to have something worth saying before giving in to the temptation."

Later, though, he rises and says, "Peladus Bralc, late of the Mages' College in Allimon."

"Much has been said of the threat of the Lichwyrm, and more has been revealed of the tenuous nature of the relationships between nations of our continent. And yet we seem seriously to be considering a united, ongoing force for ... what? For good? For peace? For protection of all peoples, except our enemies ... whoever they may be!"

"It's clear that we are of a variety of persuasions and paths, and I think we need to acknowledge that ... which means that we ought not to be afraid to make the most of the variety available to us. By all means set up your task force - whatever you decide to call it - but recognize that there are indeed specialists here who work better under a freer rein."

"And set up a structure of accountabilities which allows for a flexible response to new elements of the situation - with, perhaps a Council which is privy to the information of the independent efforts of the member nations and groups. I fear, however, that such a Council, unlike this one, should not be political in nature, so that it may respond strategically to matters at hand."

Here he pauses, smiles wryly, and bows to the assembled politicians before continuing.

"It's evident that there are dark happenings in our world. Now, there are always dark happenings, and much of what we have heard could be dismissed as circumstantial, but it is not beyond the power of reason to discern a pattern emerging."

"Vigilance is not necessarily a virtue which I would put at the top of my personal list ... but neither am I so foolish as to ignore what we have heard this day. Put my name down to help out where I can. That's Bralc - Peladus Bralc!"
