Modern medicine moves on (ewww)

So instead of bragging to friends (and the internet) about the number of stitches I have in my scalp, I have staples. For a week.

I dunno. Saying I have 11 staples in my head sounds like the description of that accident, not the remedy.

In an act of unmitigated uncleverness, I essentially dropped a 4' x 4' window frame on myself. No glass, mind you, but I caught the edge of the frame with my head. It fell about 6 feet, so it was a nice little smack. I think the cut's about 4" long. Most of the damage was from the sharp edge, not the actual force (the frame actually isn't that heavy), so no apparent concussion, no loss of conciousness, no dizzyness or blurred vision, etc, etc.

Yes, scalp wounds bleed a HECK of alot.

Cheers,
Nell.
Who thinks the Hitchhiker's Guide had it right -- a towel* is a Very Good Thing to have around.

And I will say again - OW.

Glad to hear that you're not concussed though (and that your towel was handy! ;) ) - head wounds are NOT nice.

And the staples in your head sound almost as bad. I don't want staples in my head.

You'll have to remember to ask if you can keep them in a nice little jar when they eventually remove 'em all.

My daddy has a nice collection in the cabinet from his stomach surgery.

Heh.

So...when do you start carrying around a hamster and treating it like an equal being? Or do you need more head wound before that happens? ;)

My lil' sis' had her head glued. Beat that!

Either way, glad your ok. Why do they use staples?

The only thing that ever landed on my head was a rubberband-ball just bigger then a fist. I felt it all the way down my spine. The thing is I did it on purpose.

Ker-ouch!

In soccer I once had my tooth tear through my upper lip. I remember pulling it down to unhook it. I also remember passing out at home from the lose of blood. Good ol' days- never saw a doctor or anything. Still have a scar on my face from it.

But remember- soccer is not a contact sport. ;)

I've got a gouge in my scalp from when I straightened up and caught the corner of a cabinet with my head. R-i-p... It makes a nice little "v". :) Luckily, my family runs to white hair, not baldness, so I don't have to worry about it showing.

I've got a puckered scar on my leg from when I fell on a curb, leaving a deep bruise that eventually rotted. I ripped out the rotting flesh (dang, that stuff stank...), and it eventually healed. Still have the scar, though.

I've got a small scar on the side of my thumb from where I had a wart. Didn't like the wart, though, so I was always attacking it with needles and tweezers. I finally got out all the flesh that had the virus in it, so no more wart.

That's the worst accidental damage I've done to myself. I've had some other painful stuff done to me, but that was intentional (surgery; I'm not a masochist).

They're stainless steel ones, which don't rust and which the body doesn't react much to having stuck in it. Quick click in; quick pull out. :uhoh:

Superglue was first invented as a battlefield quick-fix, if the urban folklore is to be believed.
