Ask Joan Collins and she probably can't even remember being on the show.
That was covered by Harlin Ellison in his book that reprinted the original script from "City of the Edge of Forever". He has quotes from her about her recollections, and she barely remembers, describing the character she played as being some type of cheerleader for Hitler.

Now back to ENT, I feel that some change in direction is long overdue. The ratings have been in the toilet, and this concept deserves more than a two-season run. I just fear it will be too little, too late, and possibly too much (With Voyager they added a big-busted chick in a catsuit, but already have one in this show, so it will be interesting to see what they think will attract new viewers this time).

Hmmm, according to startrek.com Enterprise's first mission was in 2151 which means that 10 years will have to pass. We could see it, but only if they break the season=year mold. It would be cool to see altho if Enterprise become more popular I would like to see it as a movie. Tis a huge event.
They still have to get through the Earth-Romulan War. IIRC, it was this war that prompted Earth, Vulcan, Andoria, and other member planets (they are to be the founders of the United Federation of Planets) to unify.

That too, who the founders of the Federation were, is also just
speculation, which originally comes from one of the pre-TNG
novels or comics.

The only known founders are Humans and Vulcans.

That said, I hope they stick too it, as with the date of the founding
of the Federation, if anything, it's just a nice nod to the fans, but
to say that they are really screwing up continuity is not right.

Now, the Rommie war and how it lead to the formation of the
United Federation of Planets IS very much canon, although the
exact details of it ain't.

If they flop that, I'm pissed!

The exact year of the Federation's forming has never been given on-screen. The 2161 date is pure speculation.
Untrue. See TNG ep "The Outcast" where Troi gives the year of the Federation's founding. Tis official as it gets.

That was the one where Riker meets the species that are one sex but there are members who are considered outcasts because they have gender. The one that is attracted to Riker is brainwashed back into a proper member of 'her' society at the end.

I did make mention of the Romulan Wars in an earlier post. ;) I would rather see those wars played out on TV because they can show more of it, similar to the Dominion War.

More info, this time fromSyFy Portal.

Looks like the storyline isn't the only thing being retooled for next season. Hopefully it will have a theme that really inspires ADVENTURE! instead of this weepy 'Faith of the Heart' theme we have currently.

I disagree there. I like the ways they set up the opening credits. The theme song may not be an orchestral composition like the other modern series. However, the modern popular music format sort of sits the post-modern feel B&B tried to establish with the show. Second, the lyrics also sort of reflect the ambitions of the human race to go out and explore. I also liked the tribute to the development of aeronautics and spaceflight.

Yep, it's there. Troi throws it out rather casually during a poker game, and it's kind of hard to miss, but it's official.

Anyway, the date was apparently selected by Michael Okuda when he was writing the first edition of the Star Trek Chronology. That one goes up to the end of the fifth season of TNG, I think. The producers knew about the project, and Jeri Taylor threw that date into an episode of TNG just to make it official.

Good eye. I missed it the first time.

This info is dead on. Verified in the second printing of the forementioned ST:Chronology. :)

Re: Founding date.

Sorry, my bad. I realize now that you're of course right. I'm just thinking of the
date of the Rommie war that ain't canon.

I love the visuals, hate the song. I'm not really a big fan of the DS9 and VOY
themes either, although they don't turn me off like the ENT one. I just feel rather
neutral about them.

I theme should prepare you for the show you're going to be watching. Farscape's
theme gets you in the feel for general weirdness and oddity while Strgate's theme
fills me with the wonder of exploration. X-Files' theme prepares me to step into a
world of the occult and supernatural but Buffy's into a campy action/dventure show.
CSI's 'The Who' theme doesn't really tell you much about what the show is about,
but it fits the style of the show very well, tells you not of the stories the show tells,
but how it delivers them as does Law & Order's which fits perfectly with the show's
storytelling style, yet the differences in the theme between the spinoff shows is just
right to fit each one, with SVU's faster tempo and CI's rocked up version.

ENT's theme just doesn't fit the show. We get the teaser, allright, and the theme
starts playing. Ok. Then the show starts, but it doesn't fit with the show at all. Not
the subject matter and not at all the storytelling style. Sure, the lyrics may, but the
lyrics always play second string (or more like, third or fourth) to the theme and
personally I think they shouldn't even be considered as part of the equation. I mean,
a LOT of people don't even listen to the lyrics, to them, the vocals are just another
instrument, a sound without direct meaning.

'Faith of the Heart' doesn't make me think of adventure or space exploration,
humanity's first steps into space or the path to experiance, but a couple that got
married very young after she got pregnant, that now have two-three children, each
in a different age group (a teen, a pre-teen and a little kid). They live in a small sub-
urban house that they bought cheap and the father repaired. They have money
problems and at least one of them owns an independant business, most likely a
restaurant, a small bookstore/antique store or a construction company. Oh and did
I mention the quirky neighbours/parents in law/friends/coworkers?

What do I really want? A remix of the TOS theme! YEAH!
