Mythusmage's Tedious Hospital Stay

Feelin good (if anybody asks :) ). I'm pretty much 'over it'. But I will be keeping an eye out for any new stroke.
I'm very glad that you're doing better, and I hope that is the end of those sorts of problems for you.

The name of this thread, though, is another one of those that made me think "Spell" before anything else. So here goes:

Mythusmage's Tedious Hospital Stay
Abjuration, Necromancy
Level: Sor/Wiz 5
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 round
Range: Touch
Target: 1 creature
Duration: See Text
Saving Throw: Will negates

Mythusmage's Tedious Hospital Stay "grants" temporary "immunity" to positive energy, in a similar fashion to Protection From Energy. This deters the effectiveness of healing spells. While in effect, it also reduces the target's effective level for healing purposes by the caster level. (At caster level 6, for example, a 10th level target would only experience natural healing as though 4th level.) When the spell absorbs 12 points per caster level of positive energy (to a maximum of 120 points at 10th level), or when a number of days equal to the caster level have passed, it is discharged.

Whatya think? :)

That's awesome! It's yoinked!

Not just funny, but I can see it being useful in a game...

Yes, I take my HBP medicine every day. I was lucky, I knew to look out for it early. Both parents have/had HBP and one grandparent died of a stroke. I got my BP checked regularly and, in my late thirties, it started elevating, so I saw the doctor and have been medicated ever since.

Excellent! Much smarter than I was. Knowledge (family history) DC 5 woulda clued me in too, but I botched (missed by more than 5, I s'pect). Alas. HBP/Hypertension is a funny thing - Almost impossible to detect (without a BP cuff), and it can kill you in a heartbeat, but once you're on top of it, it's really EASY to control.

Stay healthy!

Well, I had a leg up on detection. My workplace used to do quarterly BP screenings. Also, at the time, i was donating plasma regularly, so I was getting my BP checked twice a week there. I could always tell how quickly i got to the plasma place after work, because within a certain amount of time my BP would drop drastically from "worked-up-over-work" levels to "normal" levels.

Love it. :) But I would change one thing. Make it a focus instead of a material component, said focus being a hospital room.

I wanted it to be combat-ready, and hospital rooms are hideously inconvenient to carry around. ;) How about if the material component is some spoiled rations (bad hospital food)?

Leomund's Uncomfortable Abode. One of Leo's early efforts in the area of magical shelters. And a reasonable substitute for a hospital room. :D
