Jurathor gets burned (CL check 33) and does not dodge the flames (Ref save 15+2=17), taking 34 points of fire damage. Jurathor has 202 HP remaining, and senses where the rats are.

Now that I wasn't expecting... nor was Jurathor...

Jurathor continues with his upward motion, and calls upon some spell defenses of his own.

Jurathor gains 11 HP, and now has 213 HP.

Amazingly enough, both combatants can see each other clearly.

He knows their magical beast traits, their swarm traits (immunity to weapon damage, taking 50% more damage from area effects, distraction, and swarm attack), they are immune to cold, they have a stunning mind blast attack, and they have a hive mind (they are susceptible to mind-affecting effects).[/sblock]
 

The rats scramble to 5n55e. They then sway and chatter some more. A handful of the rats produce a three-penny-nail-sized metal rod--where they obtain this from, you don't know--and point it at Jurathor. Jurathor feels a hostile force try to freeze him in place.

OOC: Hold monster, though Jurathor's immune. How's that for not metagaming? :p
 


Jurathor begins to wheel away from the mass of rats, then continues the long spiral until he ends up passing over them and giving them a big blast of sonics while looking imposing and scary.

Round 135

The rats are not frightened. They also dodge the sonic blast (36 Ref save), but still take 24+12=36 points of sonic damage. The rats have 144 HP remaining.

The metal rod disappears into the crowd of three hundred furry, thick-skulled rodents. Then, all at once they stop swaying and chattering and every single little rat stares menacingly at Jurathor. A wave of mind-numbing pain radiates out from the tiny little beasts, better known in academia as rattus cranius, as they try to blast Jurathor's mind into a stupor. If successful, they will swarm over the body.

b. I'm confused by the 24+12 damage. I'd think the reflex save would be 36-10, right? The effect (breath weapon in this case) allows a save, so it's not double damage. [/sblock]
 

Infiniti[sblock]a. No, I did not. Thank you. The CL check result is 31 (natural 1 Ref save), so the rats took 51 points of damage from the blades.
b. The swarm traits as listed in the Fiend Folio are not to be used in 3.5. The traits as listed in the Monster Manual are to be used instead (50% extra damage from effects that affect an area; no penalty to the saving throw).[/sblock]

Jurathor feels something try to mess with his mind, but resists it (34 Will save).

Because of moderator error (what else is new?), I reported the rats' hits points incorrectly. The rats have 93 HP remaining.
 

Jurathor wings away from the rats and starts singing a deep and terrible song of battle, making a widdershins spiral upwards.
