NG vs. NE: Neutral Evil is Victorious!

PO makes a flurry of attacks on the column of fire, and though frustrated he manages to move somewhat cannily, trying to use the fog to his advantage.

(Full Attack against Burnsie, using two points of Combat Expertise)

Gansk[sblock]If that +2 on Burnsie's attacks was due to increased Strength, it should not be getting the bonus. Burnsie has Weapon Finesse, and its Dex is still higher than its Strength even with the increase. The same is true for Gracie.

After PO burns himself and Burnsie attacks, a huge air elemental named Gracie appears at 90N65E and tries to smack PO twice. Cecilia moves to 80N70E and casts protection from electricity defensively.

Cecilia also tells both elementals that if she goes unconscious they have to get out of the victory zone immediately, and then resuming the attack against good once a new evil combatant enters the arena.[/sblock]

PO: [sblock]You recognize that Burnsie is a huge fire elemental, with DR that cannot be bypassed and the ability to burn you everytime you hit it, including the possibility of setting you on fire. I just want to verify the full attack given this knowledge.[/sblock]

That's gonna be rough, but I think I'll have to trust in PO's thick hide (or high Rfx SV). If he had Power Attack, then maybe I'd go for a few high PA strikes, but I think PO has to assume that Cecila's CL is high enough that Burnsie will be around for a while if I don't kill it. Plus, it's not like I have the option of going after Cecilia right now. I suppose Holy Smite is an option, but not a good one - can an elemental be blinded?

Anyway, thanks for the "what you know" and the caution, but PO will procede.

Round 252: PO hits everytime for a total of 90-30. In the process, he burns himself for a total of 56 fire and sets himself on fire once (22 Ref save) for an additional 1 fire damage (the flame still burns). PO has 275 hp, Burnsie has 114 hp.

PO takes 5 acid and has 270 hp. Burnsie misses (highest roll 20).

A huge air elemental appears at 90N65E and misses (highest roll 36).

Cecilia moves to 80N70E, gives the elementals some instructions and defensively casts another spell.

PO starts round 253 (on fire).

OOC: I believe that PO should have a -2 penalty on damage rolls because he is mostly in the solid fog. He also should have had a -2 penatly on attack rolls.

OOC: Hmm, intriguing. You could use the "attack from square" rule for things like cover and flanking, but I'd think the solid fog affects the creature as a whole, or not. Even one square in the solid fog may impose the penalties. After, you take the damage, right? So, clearly the fog affects the creature. I guess it comes down to movement. If the creature is still penalized on movement, then he still gets the attack/damage penalty, IMO.

OOC: OK, I guess the general rule is if any part of a creature's body is in an area of effect that causes a bonus, penalty, or general condition or effect that would not occur if the creature was completely outside the area of effect, then that bonus, penalty, condition, or effect applies to the entire body of the creature.

The only exception to this rule are sight and hearing-related conditions.

PO needed a natural 1 to miss, so he still hit everytime. Add 12 hp to Burnsie's total.

OOC: Okay, so that didn't work so well.
'cuse me while I consult with the GM about PO's woes.

Hmm.. so if I move 5ft south, I can bite Cecilia?
If so, take an MEA to move 5ft south, then use a bite to attempt to Grapple Cecilia.
If I understand correctly, since the Grapple is a special action, and not an Attack, I can't continue with the Combat Expertise. But if I can, then continue to use two points of CE.
