Ninja vs. pirate on the radio

Yesterday I was listening to a local radio station on the way to work. I usually flip between a few channels, depending on their topic of the minute or what song is playing.

I happened to stop of 105.3 FM, otherwise known as Live 105 (I live in the SF Bay Area) and the Woody, Tony and Ravey show was talking about pirates and why Ravey doesn't like pirates. Somebody phoned or texted in the reason which made me laugh.

"Ravey is a ninja."

Ahhhh- WTR went to San Fransisco after they left Chicago! I wondered what happened to them after the local station dropped them (or they left- it was never explained to the listeners). Damn, I loved their show. :(

And given the sorts of things they talked about while they were here, I'd actually bet they did know the joke (or quickly found out about it if not). They're just that cool.

When I read the thread title all I kept envisioning is

Pirates: Arrrgggggg Scuttle their back sides maties!

Ninjas: complete and total dead silence

Poor radio.

Now I understand the title better.... sorta.

Our gaming group was just discussing a negative review for the new Pirates movie, done by the reviewer on the Bob and Sherri syndicated radio show - surprising, since everyone in the group who has seen it agrees that it is excellent.

We ultimately came to the conclusion that the reviewer must secretly be a ninja. :D

I think even if you aren't aware of the pirate/ninja/monkey/robot/dinosaur wars, to a certain amount of people the absurdity of it would be funny.

I got to wear my I Be Pirate shirt at KublaCon this weekend. Sadly I missed a perfect opportunity to settle for a treasure chest when the booth babe declined the "gimme your booty" subtext.
