Off to War - Duet (Gareth)

Gareth simply watched the two get to work filling up the water wagon, once or twice almost forgetting he was supposed to be paying attention and guarding them.

Gareth gets to guard duty even though he was enjoying the day and what the two men up to was interesting. He does a little walk around the wagon and looks out across the water than back towards camp and freezes.

Two large creatures come silently out of the forest and are headed in the wagons direction. The first carries a large axe the other a bow but the weapons only get a glance as Gareth stares at their dog shaped spotted heads.

It took a moment for Gareth's brain to get pass the 'Are those Wolf-Men in Armor?' aspect of what he was seeing, realizing once he did so that these things were probably not here for a pleasant reason.

"Dreks, Willybin, wolf-men-things! Hide behind the wagon!" The read head called out in warning, shifting his grip on his shield and trident as he moved to place himself between the wagon and the approaching monsters.

As an after thought, though he doubted it would work, he clanged his trident against his shield and yelled at the approaching pair. "Yah! Beat it!"
 

The gnoll with the axe stops and watches as the bowman nocks an arrow.

They stare intently at Gareth and then the large one raises it's axe and points to the river.

Drek comes bounding up to Gareth's side. "Oi! Don't! They be'n on our side." he says then whispers under his breath. "I hope."
 

Gareth looked at Drek for a moment, incredulous, before relaxing. The fact that the wolf-man with the axe seemed to be indicating something supported the 'might be allies' claim, as well.

"Oh." The teenager replied simply, wondering why nobody had bothered to mention they had wolf-man friends to him. Not wanting to have the wolf-men think he was still hostile, he apologized while turning to look at whatever it was the wolf-man with the axe was pointing at with his - Or her, the random thought crossed his mind for a moment that it might be a girl - axe. "Um, sorry about jumping off into assumptions there..."

[sblock=OOC] LOL it is what I am trying to see. ;) I need to learn how you are to play the character so I will give you different situations here and there. and then I test those things to see if a player stays in character. [/sblock]

Gareth looks to the river and then they wolf men who shakes his axe at the water.

"Oi! tink dae wants to go to the river,"
Dreks says. "Don't tink dae speak common e'dere."
 

"I hadn't thought of that..." The red head replied a little sheepishly, before shrugging it off and stepping aside with a little wave towards the river with his shield arm to show he didn't intend to stop them. "Well, that's no big deal. It's not like the river is going to run out of water any time soon or anything."

It'd have been nice if they didn't just pop up out of the woodwork and nearly give him a panic attack, though...

[sblock=OOC]Well, I'll try to play as in character as I can - But I haven't "nailed down" his entire personality just yet - I imagine that will mostly come as I post with him. So far he's just kind of a lighthearted guy, I guess?[/sblock]

The two gnolls head towards the river and watch the three humans standing there watching them. When they reach the bank they knell down on all fours and lean forward to lap at the water like the dogs they resemble.

"Look at that they... OW!" Willybin starts to say something before Dreks elbows him. "We best be get'n dones." Dreks says heading back to the water and the hand pump.

Gareth watchs for a moment before remembering he doesn't want anything unfriendly to sneak up on all of them. He makes a half circle circuit from on side of the wagon and back to the other. And then returns to the side the gnolls are drinking on.

He tries not to watch as one drinks and another splashes some water seeming to wash his face. But as he turns back he glances just in time to see something horrific...

Gareth attempted to quickly bring up his trident and shield once more, at the sight of the unfortunate surprise.

Gareth sees three snake like creatures shoot out of the water to each bite at the gnoll drinking form the river. The axe wielding gnoll falls backward and scrambles away as fast as it can sitting on it's arse. Gareth can see he left his axe on the bank and a dagger is in his hand.

The snake like creatures drag the dead gnoll into the water and the dead wolf man starts to float down stream. The snakes are no where to be seen.
