[OOC] Playing Dice with the Universe

According to the rules listed up-thread, it's one bonus language per point of int above 10. Isn't that the same?

Int 15; 5 points above 10?

Some answers to some questions...

Ability score adjustments for race - There were none in this version.

We will be roleplaying a bit before establishing starting level, but it will end up being Level 5.

As for gaining levels...I honestly don't know. The adventure we'll be using, Temple of the Frog, was the first proto-module and is written in a different style than even the early modules like Tomb of Horrors and the Giants series. I'm going to have to muddle through and figure out experience and levels and such manually, so to speak.

Gaining more spells will be discussed in game. (I need to figure out how spell books are supposed to work myself, actually.)

Question for you guys - Back when I was Crazy Monkey, the Rogue Gallery forum was the place to post character stat threads. Is that still as useful as it used to be or shall we do something else?

Well, the giants series and Tomb of Horrors were both first edition AD&D; not basic, which might be part of why they're formatted differently.

How are you going to incorporate the changes in system? Will you backward convert them, or is the professor going to 'pick up the latest ruleset'?

The framing story involving Professor Blake will be him keeping up with the latest editions and supplements and such. What's really happening...

...each edition change represents a temporal reality shift as the actions of the player characters alter the timeline.

[sblock=Josh's Background and Sir D's]
Description: Josh Frankel is a fairly recent hire to the university's grounds crew. He was a Phys. Ed. major (sophomore) last year, but flunked out. He turned his work-study job into full-time employment without much difficulty, since he had much more aptitude for the "work" than he ever did for the "study," anyway. Josh is a short, stocky fellow who has dark red hair and wears a thick and heavy beard.

Sir Dublemas is a stereotypical Dwarf who recently left his home in the mountains and made his way to human settlements because he heard that there were opportunities to be had there for doughty warriors to sally forth and smite goblins, orcs, hobgoblins, and even the occasional ogre. Sir Dublemas inherited his father's armor, weapons, family pride, and title, but, alas, Dear Old Dad had fallen on a spate of rotten luck these past 20-30 years, and so he had little money to impart to his progeny. Sir Dublemas spent the last of his meager inheritance to travel to human lands. He is quite hungry at the moment, too.
